Anyone sas a 2ndgen? Trying to sas mine. Overall goal is to just get the ifs out so working on a budget links and coil overs is not gonna happen. Gonna go the leaf spring route. Sitting on a 6” & dont plan to touch the back as my intention isnt to “build” the truck. Now my question is to whoever is on a leaf’ed setup. What leaf pack is everyone on?

Doing a SAS is kind of "building" the truck. If you're just doing it for clout then you're forking out a lot of money for it.

Of course its gonna have to be built. It’s definitely not a bolt on mod. Meant Im not going to go crazy and upgrade and “build” everything I can to make it an insane build. Intention is just to get ifs out as I’ve already forked out more than enough money maintaining and replacing enough parts.

The question you should ask yourself is, are you capable of doing the work yourself? Do you have the knowledge and tools? Can you weld and fabricate? Do you have the space, patience, and time?

There's no such thing as a "BUDGET" built. A simple leaf set up will cost you ~$10k on average and potentially double that with a 3 link setup. If folks are telling you that you can get a simple SA done at $5k, I call BS. Even if you were to buy all used parts, $5k will not be enough. Plus, put in to consideration if you are not able to perform the work and have to pay a shop. Most shop labor charges $7k-$10k for turn key.

What is your end goal with the solid axle?
    Street legal or trailer queen?
If trailer queen, got a tow pig and a trailer?
What front axle, 1t or custom?
    Tire size?
Steering, hydraulic assist or full hydraulic?
    Gear ratio?
    Beadlock?
    Lockers?
    Dual case?

Have fun deciding on a budget friendly built to simply remove the IFS.

A 6" lift on IFS is going to be nothing but a money pit. Anything more than 3" and you're going to be always throwing parts at the truck.

    I see $5k as a joke

On my 87 4Runner, I spent more than $5k and that was with a $400 factory toyota mini axle. That was back in 2000, covid pricing is real nowadays. Heck, I recall trail broken gear beadlock going for $250ish, now, it's over $550.

Everything double or near triple in price since 2018. :argue:
