    At *some* point, it matters.

That’s a nice looking truck. If it was $45K I’d buy it. At $60-70K hell no.

Sadly, yes and so was the Octane TRD Offroad next to it.

Dealer 38 miles away has a TRDOR with the 10k premium off road package on the lot. Sales guy called me this morning. $54k… they are tempting me

    That sounds reasonable. Too reasonable.

Only if you're 3'1 sitting in the front passenger seat.

So MSRP. In 6 months you’ll be able to get one at a discount id bet. Not that tempting.

    2025 Tacoma TRD Pro
Almost ten years ago, the Tacoma was considered second to the Colorado in this article. The base Tacoma was 18% more than the base Colorado and the Pro was 7% more than the Z71. Less HP, worse MPG, worse braking and handling, less headroom and legroom, interior was deemed not as comfortable, and less payload (1,489 vs 1,143). And yet, the Tacoma outsold the Colorado more than 2 to 1.

A 2024 Z71 with heated power seats, skid plates, safety, and trailer package is $46,780. A TRD OR with the $5,420 Upgrade is $49,815. $3K more or about 6%.

Why was the Tacoma considered the better buy (based on sales) then, but (based on many on this forum) not now?

Is GM even trying to sell the most midsize trucks since they sell so many full-size trucks?

You’ve sort of summed up the problem for Ford and GM: the way most Colorados and Rangers are priced, you might as well buy a full-size truck. Toyota avoided this for the longest time, but now they’re falling victim to it as well.

(Some) people are scared of the new gen because it hasn't proven itself yet, and we shall see.

    Old man story:
I've driven Toyotas for alot of years and the #1 thing I've heard since the 80's is.....
"How many miles you got on that?"
And no matter what my answer is, the reply has always been "it's not even broken in yet".

I dont know for a fact but I bet people dont say that very often to owners of any of the big 3.

Next door neighbor has a Colorado same year and similar mileage as my 2011 Tacoma. It looks in terrible shape and rattles, squeaks and rumbles as it passes by. Seems like hood is up or on jacks quite frequently. On the other hand my Tacoma is as solid as the day it came off the lot. Basically trouble free!

Which has nothing to do with a 2024 Tacoma. At least not for a few years.

F series trucks outsell Tundra easily, are they the better truck? Or is it a numbers game. 2 plants running 24/7 will always beat a 1 plant vehicle.
