It’s funny cuz when I had my 2007 Ranger, I was so excited for the all new ranger. Then I saw it in person…

No MT and an ecoboost only junk engine was a deal beaker for me.

The point being made is a 1/4 ton truck isn't going to outclass a 1/2 ton for the American market. Tundra sales blow already, if they did that to the capability of a Tacoma, may as well convert the Tundra plant to Tacoma.

Wouldn't that theoretically reduce the payload? As it would have a heavier bed?

I think this is more rating related than reality based. I would be incredibly skeptical of 2k lbs in a hilux being actually different in real life vs 2k lbs in a tacoma.

It’s ridiculous how clean that looks compared to the Toyota. And it’s made in the US.

If you Photoshopped a Toyota grille over the bowtie, I would totally believe that would be the fourth generation.

    Haha!

Once you go black, you never go back. That’s what they say? :D

My high school ride. That’s my old friend sitting in it though.

    IMG_6492.png

My first vehicle was 1990 Mazda b2200, black. Than this Camaro. After I had a black 1990 civic Si.

At one point I had a silver 2003 AT accord and it was the most miserable driving experience. Couldn’t wait to get rid of that POS. Basically all my vehicles were black and MT except for the POS accord.

    Haha!

Ford ranger sounds more “manly”

There was actually a difference in emission system but otherwise they were completely identical. I got my parts from ford dealership and told them I had 2007 Ranger FX4.

I remember working for Mazda 2007-2009 and we never once had a B4000 on the ground. Randomly I'd get a call, and send them to the Ford store. "But I want to buy Japanese" Well sir, I'm sorry to inform you that....

    Ahaha!

We still got tons B4000s up here. Those trucks are overbuilt.

Styling of a ranger was so much better, especially the FX4 LEVEL 2… Sharp looking truck with lower gears in the diffs. (4.56)

Look at this thing! I would kill to
    Own one in mint condition.

They were popular in Colorado for a long time but unfortunately they were prone to rusting. Super awesome trucks.

I would also probably put the Ranger Raptor and Bison ahead of the Tailhunter and the new BroPro.

Mission creep. The Colorado has literally the same engine as the base Silverado. Mid size are as large as what full size used to be, except payload and towing capacity are not there for real work. Don't like the Maverick, but there's big room in the lineups now for smaller trucks that are unibody and lame offroad but fit 90% needs of small truck buyers. The mythical Toyota Scout would sell well. The new Tacoma will sell well too. But after the initial gold rush, I don't see it holding MSRP and will get discounts. It's a nice truck. The styling may grow on me especially the eclectic mish-mash interior, it just needs to find its price point.

We’ve made X so big that we’ve bloated ourselves out of the segment so now here is Y for those people who still need something that fits the parameters of the segment.
