I'm at a loss guys, this noise is driving me absolutely nuts. There's this chirping noise that sounds like a pissed-off cricket in my engine bay and I cannot for the life of me find out where it's coming from. As of yet, I haven't heard the sound in neutral or park. I checked the high-pressure fuel pump and the sound wasn't coming from there, I climbed under the truck and it sounded to be closer to the driver's side. I thought it might have been the HPFP because it sounds identical to the videos on another thread about that. The sound is also not coming from the serpentine belt, surprisingly, things getting old as hell. It also only makes the sound after warming up for a little. When I'm looking over the engine bay it sounds like it's coming from directly under the engine cover. I took it to a dealer and even after telling them how to get it to make the noise, they said they could not replicate it. I know I sound a bit crazy but it's driving me insane. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Would suspect it’s an idler pulley bearing

I thought so too but the noise was coming from further back in the engine bay

Do you hear the noise in Drive or Reverse with the truck stationary? If so you could try putting your ear at one end of a PVC pipe and carefully poke around the engine bay (with a second person keeping their foot on the brake).

I would have guessed a pulley bearing too. A video of said noise might help.

yes, if the truck is in drive or reverse with someone holding the brake so it doesn't move I can hear the noise. It sounds like it's coming from behind the plastic motor cover though, and I cant think of anything really back there.

The radiator mount? I can't remember which mount or bushing it was, but tons of people had an issue with something like that.

I read about that too, but it's coming from further back in the bay. close to the cabin on the drivers side I'd say

That sounds like it might be an exhaust system rattle to me. If you are brave, put on one of your wife's oven mitts and grab ahold of that exhaust pipe to see if you can quiet it down. But don't do this with the truck in gear and you under it!

I pressed upwards on the cat (or the thing that looks like one) and the noise stopped immediately. I had to disconnect the exhaust manifold bracket to reach one of the starter housing bolts a couple of weeks ago, I bet it came loose after I tightened it. I'm gonna go get myself some Loctite and crank that shit down. Thanks guys!
