    Hi everyone,

I had an alignment done today that the dealership recommended. My Tacoma is stock 2017 TRD ORD 4x4 Double cab, all stock and no modifications.

Tires are Goodyear All Terrain Wrangler, specs listed below:

    GOODYEAR
    GDY WRANGLER ALL TERRAIN ADVNTR
    265 /70 R16 112T SL VSB TM.

The dealership said I needed an alignment when I recently had my truck serviced at 68k miles, but from the picture it looks like they didn't really do anything? The Toe that was in read at .15 moved to .14

I never noticed any pulling or uneven wear before it being aligned, but I have had these tires for almost 40k miles now so wanted to do the right thing and help them last longer.

Issue is I honestly don't know anything about vehicles and I don't have anyone to ask in my personal life for help (family support.) I hate feeling being taken advantage of for being a woman but kind of think that's what happened.

Is there a number the toe should be at, and the other numbers as well? I can't find anything online for help, but worry that I just paid $110 to have this done won't it just easily go back out of alignment since it was only adjusted by .01?

    Thank you for any help/advice.

They only adjusted you right camber, and toe 0.1 degree. A bit more toe than I would want/like 0.5 or 0.6 at most. Caster is good. That's the problem with most alignments at dealers, they get them in the green and call it a day. Unless you specify what you want.

Hey thank you, that's the thing I don't know what it should be (can't find anything specific numbers from google,) so I was just SOL unfortunately.

To clarify the toe should be around 0.05 to 0.06? In the middle of the line right? Not towards the outerpart that like it shows? I may call tomorrow and ask if they can re-check the alignment, having paid $110 for that minute change doesn't feel the best.

The middle of the range would be ideal, but technically it’s now in spec...
Also the camber only changed a tenth of a degree (there’s a decimal point in there) and the toe only changed 1/100 th so minimal that bumping the alignment equipment could’ve resulted in you being in spec now. It’s with a shot trying to get them to get at it again, but my experience with dealers, I personally wouldn’t get my hopes up. I do wish you luck though.

hey thanks, I understand what you're saying, and honestly that's probably what they'll tell me. I think from now on I will try to get a second opinion somewhere not at a dealership before paying for things done...they tried telling me I needed a new torque converter actually (different toyota dealership in the same city though,) so it's hard to find a place to trust especially when I just don't know or understand what to look for.

but thank you again for the reply!

Yes 0.05 to 0.06. There is one a bunch of threads on here about alignments. Most are after lifts, but very similar to non- lifted. Stay away from places like Firestone as well, most go there for lifetime alignments, but most techs are not that knowledgeable. Search on here.

I dunno if you can research for a good trusted mechanic in your area. Pour over online reviews, ask family or friends. A trusted mechanic is worth their weight in gold.
