What have you bought in the last 48 hours gun related?

Technically I didn't buy it but a buddy gave me this geissele trigger guard bc it wouldn't fit his geissele lower so they sent him a new one. His new one fit fine. Told him I'd try it out and it fit my SIG lower just fine. Not sure what the deal was. He sent me pics and it definitely wasn't going to align right so not sure how his new one fit and this one fit mine and not his lower. No idea where the problem child is in the equation but it worked out for both of us.

 

This is so stupid, The ammo I bought shows tracking number was created but hasnt (shipped) yet. Not sure if i'll get it now..

 

That just means it’s waiting for the carrier to pick it up

Just picked up another 1000 9mm. Being in California I may buy another safe just for ammo. Gun up and ammo up, don’t know what tomorrow may bring.

 

Yeah I picked up some already from a place out of Florida for 28 a pop.

 

You may be correct, I’m not arguing but here is what Liberty safe co. and other safe companies say -
When loose ammunition burns in a fire, there’s very little chance of serious harm being inflicted by any flying projectiles, unlike what you might see in the movies. Cartridges are meant to be contained in the chamber of a firearm when they go off, and the chamber is what contains the high pressures of the expanding gunpowder gases and forces the bullet down the barrel at high speed. Without that chamber, the case just ruptures and there’s no high-speed projectile; in fact, the heavier bullet generally remains in place and the lighter case is what may fly off at relatively low speeds.
I’m an avid pistol shooter and avid shotgun hunter and sporting clays. I have cases and cases of ammo especially shotgun ammo. I Think it’s better to keep ammo in a safe than stacked up around my garage for numerous reasons.

I really don’t think many are. This California bullshit is a big problem and hassle for the sellers too. They have to jump through a lot of hoops. In addition because of the hassles a lot of California buyers are going across the border to Nevada and stocking up on ammo, so the business is going out of state. It’s illegal to go to Nevada to buy ammo and bring it back into California but no one I’ve talked to cares and it’s virtually impossible to be caught. I’m not suggesting anyone do that, it’s just reality.

 

I don’t really think FFLs make much money on it, if that’s what your query is implying.
That said, by the time you get done paying whatever is charged for a background check after a year, it very well might be cheaper to get a FFL03.

 

In addition as of July 2024 things are going to get even tougher for the gun and ammo shops, especially the smaller businesses. That is when the new California tax on guns, gun parts and ammo goes into effect. In addition to all the other taxes already in place there will be an additional 11% tax. Currently sales tax averages from county to county is around 10%. Come July you’ll pay 21+ % California tax on all guns, parts and ammo. Remember there is already a federal tax on guns of 10 or 11%. So you will be paying 30+ % tax on all California gun purchases.

 

My Mom and Pop FFL shop doesn’t stock any ammo. So they would likely take a decent hit. And every time I’m in there customers are picking up website bought ammo. The $30 fee definitely helps them get by

 

So, to clarify… you pay for whatever the ammo cost + whatever ship fees might happen to have it sent.

These are usually bulk purchases. Hundreds of dollars worth of ammo (can be assorted), plus a $30 fee attached.

 

Are you sure about that? I just did a quick check and the only way you can have ammunition shipped to your residence is to have an FFL. The only change to CA gun laws was an injunction recently issued striking down the requirement for a background check when purchasing ammo.
