This door bar on my roll cage in my Camaro is fun to watch me climb over then fall into my seat . When I was younger I was more agile now a comedy act to watch

Yes there's a pull pin to swing the door bar out of the way but I just climb over that bar !!!

I’m not hugging trees yet and probably won’t start but I am starting to hear the other side of things. But I’m not packing my shit for California yet!

There has been significant work to clean things up but it’s never going to be perfect. There are lots of testing monitoring sites all around the area.
out here it’s mostly mining. Lots of old claims up in the mountains, mine shafts flooded and ground water exposed to whatever minerals are in the mine that then run down stream. Few areas are pretty much dead due to those types of issues and I doubt that anything will ever be done to fix it as the mines are so remote it would be difficult to do any remediation work.
And then there’s the once or twice a year “accidental “ discharge of the Yellowstone club sewage treatment ponds into the Gallatin. Yeah. Won’t see me fishing down stream there!

Not trying to stomp any toes this morning but you should take a ride through West Virginia. The state is beautiful in the summer but in the winter when the leaves fall. You can ride through the same area and look back up in the hollows and see where the people dumped out their appliances and trash. I had someone tell me about how the mining company fixes it back after they removed the top of a mountain to get at the coal. Because they smooth it out and plant grass. I had about 20 acres up there a few years back but I received a good offer on it during Covid so I let it go.

Coming from a state that was completely “clear cut “ ,Michigan has come a long way. We have pretty good trout fishing. DNR guy once told me that if you want to know the conditions of an environment, check the trout population.

Those problems exist almost everywhere if you know where to look.
Up in Alaska there really aren’t any salvage yards or recycling centers as the cost to ship everything south is too expensive. So you can just be driving along and be surrounded by endless wilderness then bam - dump of old cars and appliances and furniture just left to rot because people wanted to get rid of them and didn’t want to pay and arm or leg to do it properly.
So yeah, humans are dumb and ruin things everywhere.

I believe that’s what has opened my eyes to some things. And it’s not really important to me anymore if I catch anything sometimes it’s just about where you’re standing. IMG_6027.jpg
