The TrailBoss held its value pretty well. What was it a 41k truck that got an offer off 36k?

The Tacoma is new which might play a factor in the offer. Who is looking for a slightly used 4G at the moment? Used 4Gs will probably price out higher than new like most Tacomas. Value might go up over time, but if I was buying with the intent to trade soon that CM offer wouldn't leave me feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

Watching that it pretty much says to me that the used car market is pretty much back to normal, all the offers were about where I would expect them to be taking normal used car depreciation etc.

I expect that the Tacoma was pretty much a guess, but it depends on which MSRP number they used to take xyz percentage off of....something to remember with all the port add ons.

The Colorado seems to have held its value well, which may speak for a stronger market for that model.

Carmax has no way to value a 4th gen. They gave him a price they knew they couldn't lose with. It's not a real offer so to speak.

36k for a vehicle with no CC felt pretty strong IMO. I don't even use CC in my truck, but I would never buy one without it.

Overall the prices felt about right. 2 years ago CM gave me 25k for a wrecked '17 Rav4 SE with 30k miles. 3 years earlier, after it had been wrecked and repaired, CM wouldn't even make an offer to buy it.

Probably the same price they would value a 3G OR with the same features.

I think they mentioned on some video that the doors open to the same width?

So I think all the added width is in the track width pushing out the fender width, but you don’t need more room to open the doors. (I could be wrong but this is what I vaguely remember)

Good news is the white hot used car market seems to be returning to some level of normalcy.

Bad news is that as soon as you lay $50k down and drive home, you’ll own a used car, subject to the more traditional laws of depreciation. Definitely worth pondering before overpaying.

You didn't have to research. The numbers I gave you/you quoted show that a (typical) Tacoma is 19-21" shorter than any available "full-size".

Obviously nobody likes to "lose" money when selling a vehicle, but TFL guy says he wouldn't sell his 9mo old truck with 8,500 miles unless he got 40K for it. He paid 41K. Technically it's a year old because the 24s are (sort of) available. Price increase on a '24 Z71 was $500. Who is going to buy a used Chevy over a new one to save $1,500?

What's really wild is you can get an F150 regular cab that is shorter overall than your typical Tacoma. That's funny.

but you will hate it when you drive the hybrid. and you still don't get the fancy lights found on the Pro and Trailhunter.

I do not understand this latest YouTube trend of taking newish cars to carmax to show offers, for one...cars depreciate...two..the offer is zip code dependent so it really tells nothing and three...I hope Car max gets privy to this quick and starts censoring their offers when there is a camera man around in the parking lot at least for the rest of our sakes.

I guess this entertains the people that somehow were convinced that vehicles hold value or appreciate based on a short period of record breaking shortage and the principles of supply and demand being applied in what they believed to be in their favor.

There are some hard lessons coming for trade ins in the not so distant future....

It's your appraisal once they give it to you. You can do what ever you want with it. I know somone who traded 18 Legacy last year and got 19k for it, can't recall the milage had one accident that insurance covered and wasn't reported to carfax, it was PDR and a repainted bumper. There was also some electronic issue that was probably easy to correct with a ecu reflash.

For another 5k you could get the Forsberg Racing pkg installed by the dealer on the Frontier. The suspension and wheels could probably be had for 5k, I'd want a KingCab and the rack and sliders aren't going to fit anyway.
