Depends on manufacturer, there may be minor differences. I have a 255/80/17 Cooper discoverer ST/MAXX spare, and just had to bend whatever that bracket is out of the way. I also have my exhaust cut off above the axle, so not worried about that either. YMMV, especially depending on which tires you have.

Thanks for the photos! Looking at going with 5 tires next time around and had the same question. Have you had those aired down? I have the same wheels which are 7" but all the 285s I've seen say they need to be on a wheel at least 7.5" wide. Have you had any issues?

To the contrary, I find it protects the wheels a little better.

I've aired down for OR, but usually run 35 PSI for every day driving.

Some dude got a 315/75 or 315/70 in there at like 4 psi and lots of hammering and cutting of hangers. But I would worry about the tire exposed so close to the ground.

Not familiar with that size but I can say my Cooper ST/MAXX ones will "JUST" fit w/o bending a thing for 255/85 R 16 on stock wheels. Tight fit and the guys at Discount had a friendly bet it would not. It definitely does but takes a bit of "wiggling" when cranking the tire up.

guess i never posted in this thread. i used to have a 285/75/17 in there no problem with a little bending and relocation of the chain winch thing. no cutting of any sort
    full pressure.

How did you relocate the chain?

    Stock. For now.
It’s pretty simple. Lower the factory spare tire and remove. Then look at the tire hoist. It has 4 bolts mounting it to the crossmemeber. Remove the bolts. Now take the hoist and move it towards the rear of the crossmember and align the bolts “offset” of the front and rear set. Now you need to drill Two New holes into the crossmember for the rear bolts to mount through. Drill. Paint. Mount in new holes. You may want to adjust the alignment tabs for the spare as well. And as you crank the new larger tire into place, pull or push it as far to the rear and away from the third member as possible.

I fit a 295/70r17 into the factory location. I’ll look for the thread…..

Post. #48 is mine. But check post #45 for another link to the hoist relocate. Post #97 in that thread.

I've got a 35/10.5r17.Aired down, chain hanger moved back like mentioned above, and I have an aftermarket rear bumper which helps.

Ya I only have the one tire as a spare since it’s a 10.5 it doesn’t hang as low to the ground.

Someone mentioned in my thread about this subject that this only works for a long bed. Idk about short beds, I thought they were all the same from the axle back to the bumper but I guess not.

Oh man. I don’t remember. I might be in that other thread somewhere. Nothing weird though. Pretty normal sizes any of us would have.
