What is this contraption you are cooking on? Wood stove? is it one of those smokeless fire pit things? Does it provide heat and cook abilities?

Yep it’s a solo stove. It’s stupid expensive but I got it as a gift so splurged on its pricey accessories instead. I have the cooking hub and heat shield. Both work great for cooking and throwing heat. Although I’m sure there are similar/cheaper alternatives

    Same!
It was about -15ºc to -20ºc.
I wrecked my windows on my tent doing my pre-trip inspection like a fool; it must have been below -20ºc and the windows started to disintegrate when I opened my tent :(
Also, those Sportbrellas are wicked; turn winter camping into T-shirt weather pretty quick.

thats a bummer about your windows. They just fell apart when you opened them from being too cold? Not melted or something?

How did you not get any flying embers on that being so close?

Yeah. They shriveled like my wallet every time I order Tacoma parts.
Gently fell to the floor like Styrofoam packing peanuts and packing slips.

It was about -40 out not long before that, and it only just started to warm up to about -25 or -20 when I opened the tent to check everything over.
about $300 to replace the window and another $280 for a rainfly. So I'll just use clear gorilla tape for now as a budget fix.

There weren't many. Minimal smoke and minimal embers. Lucky I guess? Or I would have just moved back a wee bit.

Does that heat shield throw any heat at foot level, or just straight out? I have the stove and my feet freeze since all the heat goes straight up.

After a year of using our Leer 100xr for boondocking, and camping, we realized we needed more space. So we decided to go with a topper with integrated RTT. It was a debate between GFC and Topo Toppers. It was a $1,500 difference and we wanted to support a local builder, so we went with Topo Toppers.

After we sold the Leer, we inspected the truck and as expected, the overhang rubbed on the bed in 2 areas and chipped the paint!

Went out for a weekend trip to Ocotillo Wells, ran some trails Saturday and returned to camp to find a kid on a dirt bike laying under my setup. I was pretty mad, trailer shifted from its blocks, bed supports snapped from the lid/tray so I’ll have to fix it this week. I always remind parents to keep their crotch-goblins in sight and teach them etiquette around others stuff, bc they can cost them some $$$ when they mess up others equipment(free upgrade inbound). Overall a great weekend besides having to pack the trailer a day early and sleep in the truck bed.IMG_3930.jpg IMG_3642.jpg IMG_4018.jpg

Truck looks great, but got a question for you.

I know when you have a camper with a rack and a roof rack you don't want to bolt anything to the both of them so the body can twist a bit. How's that work with the RTT up there? I imagine its not bolted to the roof rack, but it seems pretty flush.

Made an insert for my diesel heater duct out of .100” HDPE. It has just enough flex to put it into the existing window channel.

Menards. $20 for a 2x3 sheet. You can probably find it on Amazon but I’ve never looked.

Honestly that rubbing doesn’t look bad at all. I can’t imagine if you had super white…your paint actually has layers. Dr. Paint Chip should fix that right up

It doesn’t but it shouldn’t happen in the first place.
