Going from stock 16” to TRD Pro 17” wheels. Will my TPMS sensors transfer or do I need to buy new ones? I’ve called 4 dealers and they’re split 50/50 (seriously?) two giving me the part number 42607-06030 as the needed sensor. I’ve read in various forums that guys have transferred theirs with no issue and I’ve also read they’ve had to buy new. Any insight?

They are considered a wear item and I replaced mine. There is a cost to removing them and installing depending on where you do your tire business. You will get more money for your stock wheels if you leave them on in my opinion. Also they can be damaged sometimes when being removed if there is some corrosion, but it looks your truck is fairly new. For me it made more sense to buy new sensors.

I’ve only purchased TRD Pro in the past and have 3 variations so I wanted this to match. 1200 miles. The question is do I HAVE to get new sensors jumping from 16 to 17… Again, I’m getting 1/2 yes 1/2 no.

If it is from an alloy wheel, yes they will transfer just fine

They can transfer...however, if you have rubber stems shops may give some push back and tell you you need new sensors

No you dont have to. If they dont work you can always just have them removed and purchase new ones.

BAM wholesale says I need to swap out for new. They are usually pretty on top of things. Does this part number ring a bell with anyone? 42607-06030

Ok so it looks like 42607-06030 and stock 42607-02050 are the same part, one metal one rubber. So size/angle isn’t the issue. Can anyone verify these are the same part just to help put this to bed for me?

Ask them why. The size of the wheel doesn't matter. The hole for the steam is standard. Toyota has 2 types of sensors - steel wheel and allow. Different angle. But folks here were able to install the steel one to allow wheel just fine.
If you made up your mind, then get those that match the color of the wheel.

Not worried about color, keeping chrome lugs for contrast on a silver vehicle so stem doesn’t matter to me. Looks like you got me dialed in. Thanks Vlady

I just ordered SEMA TRD wheels today from Ourisman Toyota and they confirmed that 42607-02050 is the correct TPMS for that wheel and is compatible with a 2023 Tacoma TMPS system.

I guess I'll see when they get here but, they looked it up and confirmed via my VIN.

It senses pressure and doesn't give a rip what rim size you have just like it doesn't care what tire size

Yeah I heard back from yet another dealer today that reiterated stock sensors are fine. “May run into a gasket kit issue but doubtful.” I’m in the same boat, we’ll see.

They told me the TPMS service kit (04423-0E010) wasn't required and I could reuse my old ones. But I'm going from steel to alloy wheels so I bought them. $32 and change for 4 of them.

I’m alloy to alloy so should be fine. You bought the 17s, correct?

Just did my new Sema trd pro wheels. They transferred tpms, just had to replace rubber stems with new ones. Tpms is a 2 piece part. Already drivind for a month, no issues.

My stock stems are metal. Did you buy 17s or the new 16s?
