Yeah 2024 TRD Off-road. Pretty basic no upgrade or premium package. Heated Seats, Mudguards, and Audio Upgrade. I asked them if they’d take it off because it’s a dealer option and they said no so fast

The flashing lights draw your attention to the fact that the vehicle is braking. A lot of motorcycles have them too. Not a bad thing considering everybody is on their phone instead of paying attention to the road.

I under no uncertain terms want some hack at the dealership messing with my new truck wiring. No way I'd buy that either.

Good for you for not taking their BS. That’s the only way that’s going to stop. How much do they charge for that nonsense?

I definitely don’t want some high school dropout messing with anything on a brand new car.

I have to disagree if the flashing brake light is in the factory taillight housing. It's more distracting and you can't decipher if the brakes are being tapped or steadily applied. Lots of sport compacts around here with them.

This is one of those mods that, just because "you" like it and it's your truck. Every vehicle behind you sees it. It's actually less safe for everyone on the road.

Just this week a wheel chair bus got rear ended by a HD roll back, and every one of those buses has a flashing CHMSL. I don't find it as annoying on those buses, but it didn't work as intended. Ofcourse the RB driver could have had a medical issue behind the wheel.

Or makes the driver behind you think you are brake checking them....and pisses them off...

It’s a super fast flash for like a second (to get your attention) then solid. I’ve never seen a car with one and thought they were brake checking me.

I also don’t ride on peoples ass because I’m not a retard

I could see above a certain speed, with a heavy enough brake application, an automatic single, possibly double wink of the brake lights could occur.

But not for every brake application. That's asinine.

And the dealer shouldn't be adding that. Why would the dealer suddenly care about highway safety? Hint: they don't. They're adding some cheap Chinese shit and gouging the living f-bombs out of you.

I wonder what the legality of those are? You are altering the factor brake light function. I vaguely recall this being an issue on semi trailers. Somebody came up with a pulsating brake light for semi trailers. I think the NTSB said no way, I can't recall the final outcome, I think it was argued that it was distracting and confusing by the trucking industry they definitely were against it because of the added cost.

    Edit
    https://www.truckinginfo.com/10147030/pulsing-back-of-trailer-lamps-aim-to-prevent-crashes

I guess it was allowed and optional, the pulsating amber + steady burn red makes sense on a trailer or comercial vehicle.

The Canadian trucks get those under tailgate brakes lights, that probably provide more warning and awerness.

I think the reason everyone is against the strobing brake light function is because aftermarket trash ruined it. Everyone probably agrees the ones you actually see on the road are super overused and distracting. But for the people who have done it right (BMW comes to mind), its an awesome function. I actually prefer the keeping of normal static brake light function and quick flash of the hazards to do that "get your attention" job. I think most of the trash out there today allows for you to program it certain ways, but I wouldn't be opposed to every vehicle on the road being equipped with some sort of strobing brake function that strobes anytime ABS is engaged, indicating an emergency braking situation.

Frontier S is basically a Tacoma SR with no safety features. Raptor/Pro/Bison are top of the line trims with all options (heated/cooled seats etc). Not much on the suspension specs but doesn't sound like it's more than a TRD OR package at best. I guess if you want a SGoat spec truck with better suspension at a low price, it's an option.

    This wasn't reassuring:

"The Forsberg Edition Nissan Frontier will come with a Nismo Off-Road lift kit like the race truck. The kit lifts the nose by 1.5 inches and the rear by 1.0 inches. It uses a spacer in the front and a lift block in the back, along with new hardware."

It’s the new VIN Etching. The dealer never cared about stopping car thieves by etching the windows. They cared about a quick way to screw you out of another $400.

I was just pointing out the price differences for the package and what is possible vs the price you came up with...I did zero research into what the package actually does or is.

The Pro and ZR2 have been around for a while. The Ranger Raptor is new(ish) and now Nissan is offering more options. More competition is good. It makes the manufacturers offer more and hopefully competitive prices.
