Well put!! I get shit here and there from youngsters that my 30-40 minute workouts are too short and I love telling them to get 29 years of pumping iron under their belt than talk to me. Nothing like the process and habit! At the end of the day there is no excuse.
    Be well :)

Anyone have any experience getting over Achilles tendonitis?

I’ve done the obvious stuff like rest, removing movements that irritate it and general practices that maximize blood flow to the injured area. It’s improved to a minor annoyance after but I would like it further resolved before resuming full activities.

I'm excited to get back to the Gym soon!

We have an HOA provided Gym here in Anthem AZ. That makes it free to us (or covered by HOA dues you have to pay) In January and February it is full of all of the "New Year New Me" idiots. Since I have knee replacement coming up and they cancel the surgery if your BMI hits 40, I decided to take a pause and back off of the Gym time. Staying as active as I can but this knee won't let me get much more than about 4,000 to 5,000 steps a day and occasionally starts in at 3,000. I have literally ridden it right up to the expiration date. But that amount of sedentary living, has caused quite the restricted diet (like 1,400 calories a day) to keep the BMI down and to keep from packing on pounds that raises the BMI. It is a viscous cycle to stay on top of and keep control.

Once I get past the knee replacement, I'm back to walking 2 to 4 miles a day and working out, I'll feel a lot better.

Rough end of the week, weekend went okay. Weather did not aid in getting more miles in on foot or bike. Miserable, cold, sometimes rainy all week, plus I wasn't able to do much for lunch runs last week, so it fell off. This week looks better for weather, so hopefully I can get out there more this week.

I feel like I've had tendonitis in almost every location at this point... :anonymous: Dealing with a fresh couple right now in my wrist and elbow.
I don't recall what brand they were, but my doctor at the time had me buy some "special" shoes, and also wear a compression sock almost 24/7. It probably took me a month to fully clear up, but it hasn't been back. I'll occasionally jump out of the truck wrong or something and flare it up a bit, but nothing that sticks around for more than a day or two.

Hit up a good PT and figure out why thats a problem area for you.

If I have any niggles that concern me, I just visit my PT and they usually can set me straight before something becomes a problem.

I’ve had bad luck with PTs in the past but you’re probably right. I need to search out a good one nearby.

this is interesting. I see a lot of this happening at my gym. Maybe I’ll inquire about it more next time I’m there.

    Thanks for the tips guys!

I’m staying away from inserts right now but have been experimenting with compression a little lately and it seems to help. So you might be onto something with the compression socks.

Anyone else experience changing appetite after/during a cut? I've been cutting since I goit back from holidays w the family. Eating clean and simple for me consists of lots of porchops, chicken, eggs/omlettes, roasted veggies, and fruits and the occasional meals at work dining hall which I'll be picky and just get a few cuts of meat or make myself a big ol salad.

I had in-n-out last night on a date lol. And honestly it doesnt taste good to me anymore, and I felt like garbage after. I'm thinking my body adjusted to not much fatty/greasy/salty foods recently? The taste thing is meh. Maybe it'd taste great today. but feeling like garbage after I'm thinking that could be feeling the difference between what I consider clean eating, and fast food burger and fries. Thoughts?

Find ones that focus on athletes. It can be harder the more rural or small town area you live but find the PT all the orthos refer their patients too.

+1! My wife is a PT but we're near a city (Providence). There are a ton around here of all kinds, and she's starting to specialize too. That said, she still does "regular" PT as well. I don't know her penchant for athletic physical therapy stuff is, though.

If we go back to when I had a six pack year round, yes. Which is why sometimes I could ride that to get under 10%

The healthier you get the more bad food does impact how you feel. I can vouch for that.

Whataburger is better. Or are we not turning this into a burger vs. burger thread like almost all Tacomaworld threads end up on?

Were/are you focusing on a keto, IF, or anything like that? Or just still eating 3 meals, not cutting carbs, CICO restriction? I noticed sweets were a LOT sweeter after I dropped a bunch of weight last summer, but I was more on a (relatively) grease-okay diet, not "eating clean", just cut out a lot of sugars.

I've always read your workout should never be more than 45 minutes to an hour at most. Mine are a little less than an hour of upper body then lower body. Like I go in and do a fast mile on the treadmill then set up the bench press and squat machine. Then three sets of BP/squat, then on to rows/leg extension, and so on. Keeps me moving and my heart rate up. May not be the idea work out but it's got to be better than the people I watch doing a set, then playing on their phone for 10 minutes before the next set.

You're mixing strength training and cardio. Strength training isn't meant to run your heart rate up. This is why crossfit is (was, at least, is it still a fad?) causing so many ortho injuries.

1-2 hours/day max is the way to go for a sustained, average joe workout. We aren't olympians. At least I sure as shit ain't.
