It's been a minute, y'all. I got out of my '08 taco when the family grew, and now that we're fewer again, I'd like to get back into one, but I'm completely in the dark and in need of direction.

Im looking at a new 2023 SR V6 4x4 Crew Cab in white. I've got the dealer down from $37,486 to $34,921. Only add-on I can't take off is tint on front windows for $500, bringing the purchase price to $35,420. Is this reasonable?

What I'm wondering is this: In Feb 2024, with the new body style on the same lot, how motivated are dealers to move 2023s that are still hanging around. (There are 3 of these puppies still lined up on the lot as well as 3 SR5s. All 6 in white, looking like a fleet of work trucks)

    Thanks!

My mistake. The 2024s are listed on the website as "In transit". 21 of them.

The so called bargains will show up once the 24’s are on the lots.

It's probably a nice truck, I would add in the price of new wheels/tires and any other upgrades you want, then compare with other trims.
Personally, I would wait for the 2024s to hit the lot. If you buy a 2024 you will have the latest model truck for about 8 years instead of 8 weeks.

Oh ok...They will probably give you a better deal when the 24's are on the lot..but 1500 or so off the sticker now would be the norm i guess

SSMTRDOR, I get it, but I'm not concerned with body style. I'm looking for value, simplicity, and longevity... and I do not yet have confidence in the longevity of the new engine.

$37486, which seems high to me since a comparable 2024 is in the $38k range when built online, but I dunno

Really? I bought my new 2023 SR V6 4X4 in December of 2022 (when the market was shitty) for $32,600. MSRP was $34,850.

What options does that truck have?

Not sure where you are located, but I would show your dealer this video. If your dealer won’t work with you, contact Gladstone Toyota (in Oregon). Might be worth the trip. FYI, video is about 2 weeks old.

After reading this I went to the dealer's website I bought my Tacoma from. They showed one in transit, expected 2/15, sale pending. Another in production, expected 2/26, sale pending. Then a bunch expected in March/April, and most of those were "sale pending".

That’s smart thinking. I would never buy first year model. Even a Toyota. The way Toyota digs their heels in on warranty and known problems ratchets up the risk as well. I am not super worried that its a turbo 4 cylinder. Seems to me the most reliable engines tend to be 4 bangers. That’s just my personal opinion though based on my observations over the years. I hope it turns out to be a great truck tho...
