we had a rare cold snap. this light was on this morning and stay illuminated. after i drove a bit, i pulled over, shut truck off and restarted. light turned off like normal.

i think it was frosted over. at least that i my train of thought.

    anyone?

Yup, it has also happened to me when driving at highway speeds in rain/sleet.

Mine decides to have a fit if there is a lot of rain on it, I’m talking torrential downpours, or if the truck has a nice dusting of frost on it. Snow obviously kills it too. This is a common issue for sensors like these.

irony alert. frozen conditions turn off the sensor we actually might need the most. hahah..

    thanks.

Mine did the same thing yesterday morning on the way to work. We had a light frost, and I didn't let the truck warm up for a few minutes like I normally would do. I suspect it could have gotten a little clouded with frost. I pulled off at the gas station down the street and checked the from grill but it was al clear. I restarted the truck and all was well. I suspect they are just sensitive to frost, snow, and heavy rain type events.

Mine will turn off in snow, sleet, and even heavy rain sometimes.

I've had it throw errors in rain at highway speeds. It's rather sensitive.

Bullshit. Everyone knows weather affects sensors of all types, which is why we will have no self driving cars in Minnesota in the winter or in Florida during hurricane season. There is no irony unless you know nothing about anything.

People drove for decades using common sense instead of sensors. Driving rain and zero-visibility blizzards mean the driver takes over.

One of the worst features IMHO is the "lane hold" abused by people who count on it to keep their cars in the lane on freeways at 70 MPH while they focus on CandyCrush on their cellphones.

Learn to drive first, then learn about the "idiot assists".

everyone above pretty much answered your question. the sensor can frost over, give it a good wipe/clean before driving and you'll be good to go
