Looking at lowering my Toy, Help! (New member)

What's going fellas! First of all best FU**N Forum! Great info and guides, respect to all the members!!

New on the island of Oahu and I was hoping someone can point me to the right direction. I have a base 06' Taco access cab and planning to get some work on it. Is there any where in the island to purchase a DJM lowering kit? Also if any shop who could help me out with installation? I don't mind putting the work in and learning a few things. This would be my first time working on suspension. Thanks again!

 

Your best bet is to buy djm straight from DJM direct unless you can find perhaps a used set on craigslist.

Theres a few shops that can probably do it. Just depends on how much money you wanna spend on labor.

 

Cool Palani! Would you know of any shops or any one who could help me out with the installation. I don't mind spending some money on my baby yah know! Also with the drop installation how would you go about passing recon here in oahu. I heard they do the bounce test and i want to know how I should go about with the C-notch and weld. Thanks again!

 

if you know anyone that has worked on cars and is willing to teach you thats a start. u just need to get the balljoints pressed somewhere, i heard carquest in waipahu can do it for pretty cheap.

I was wondering how come you didn't do the notch in the rear, is it because of the recon out here in the island? Will doing the C-notch prevent me to get pass safety inspection?

i've yet to hear or see anyone get recon with a c- notch.

the best thing would be to call the recon office or go down there and talk to one of the inspectors.

yea, the inspectors can be fickle too. I roll up there, white guy in a 2006 in late 2006 with a coilover set on there and some larger wider tires, fenders rolled inners tubbed. No problem. go down there with a chinese friend in a 199x? sc300.. guy fails it without even looking at it. Basically the same setup.. That guy kind of comes off like a know it all, I try to stroke their egos.
They don't follow any written rules usaully. Ask em to show you the HRS.. they can't, they won't. THey'll just tell you rules that have no reference. Doesn't hurt at all to call, get an answer and a name.
