    Cardboard cutout

    Paint it black

Place one circle with an exact size, and provide that dimension

Place cutout on a white background, and take a picture of it (helicopter view)

This will allow near-perfect duplicate drawing for cutting purposes

    Enjoy!

(the hole and known dimension is for scaling reasons, and when using a tape measure always start at 0 never in the middle)

In addition make sure your phone is programmed for the highest number of pixels. When zoomed in,the sharp edges can wash out. Max pixels helps a lot .

Image is reversed so I don’t paint the hole marks.

    I think we miss communicated.

We wanted the exact size of the bolt holes in the part.

This allows us to tell the computer that everything else in the picture should be scaled to the size of the bolt holes.

They may be metric or imperial, but we can work with that.

Did you hand nest the parts or did you pony up the $ to let the program do it?

Hand nest; the file (found on grabcad) has parts as close as .096" apart from each other and meant for laser

My nest is done in a sloppy fashion but only to accommodate the odd scrap sizes I have remaining

When I scaled it up for 10 gauge per my table settings, the drawing ends up over 4' wide :bananadead:

As a hobbyist, I didn't find the nesting feature gained me much, either.

    Yeah...I'm not cutting this.

I figured it'd be cool to have and hang up but I have it scaled for damn 10 gauge, that's going to be at least 8-10lbs

Even got the remnants laying on my table but it wasn't until I threw it on there that I was like oh damn, she'll be too heavy to hang safely

I got this cut a few days ago. Painted it yesterday with oil paint. I put it on a bit thick because it's going to be hung outside by their driveway. I was afraid it would rust. Dammit, even 55F and standing in the sun wasn't warm enough. Got some paint runs :anonymous:.

You can't see them from 5 feet, but... I may heat up the garage and try and fix them before I deliver it next week. 16-gauge with 18-gauge backplate, 40" x 30". Owner will build wooden frame and mount to post. That tabs at the bottom are for a hanging sign in tribute to farm founder.

That's perfect! Can I pay you for the file to order from S-C-S or pay you to cut it for me?

Will have to send the file, you said you needed 1/8" right?

It's one of the only thickness I don't carry.

All this work just to have room to drill and tap an exhaust flange stud.

Previous owner hacked the shit out of the firewall. Wasn't too hard to decide to just cut it out so I could have access to drill out the stud.

    upload_2024-2-8_14-23-58.png

Room to run the drill motor now.

Stopped by the grocery store and picked up a $4 cookie sheet to make the patch out of.

    upload_2024-2-8_14-26-50.png

    Patch welded in.

    upload_2024-2-8_14-27-24.png

Good enough and ready for paint.

    upload_2024-2-8_14-27-59.png

Owner is pretty happy. He was about to sell '47 jeep if he couldn't get that stud out.

This little, $200 MIG welder really likes to weld sheetmetal.
