Im thinking of buying these rims and tires. What lift will i need to make? Do the measurements fit my 04 double cab tacoma?

    rims:
    17x8.5 6x5.5, 0mm Offset 4.75" Backspace

    Wheels:
Toyo Tires Open Country A/T LT285/70/R17

im currently running stock tires and suspension. Also what do you guys think about the price? 5 tires/wheels for $2000IMG_8228.jpg IMG_8227.jpg

4.75" backspacing is going rub on the frame and uca. OEM is 4.5"

Suspension lift doesn't help you clear tires. To run the 285s (metric 33s) you'll need to modify the pinch weld at a minimum. 1.5" suspension lift + 1" body lift is probably the "right" answer if you could call it that.

wheel spacers could fix the back spacing, but overall, not a great solution.

Thanks for the quick response. I was thinking of buying this set and im glad i asked here first.

So in other words its a no on the rims? I never used spacers but it doesn’t seem optimal.

As far as the tires to run 33s is looking like i need to pinch the weld + have at least 1” suspension lift. How do i achieve body lift?

Body lifts are in the same general category as wheel spacers and spacer lifts (frowned upon). Plenty of people run them though, and as long as you don't stupid shit like stack them and keep as small as possible you won't run into problems.

Personally, when it came to this decision for me, I opted to run a 1" body lift rather than pinch weld and fender mods. Lots of options for body lifts, but the best is without a doubt Rodger Brown at 4crawler. The site is packed full of info, but the look of the site hasn't changed in decades, it's better not to browse on a mobile device.

That being said. Unless you have a good reason to run 33s, just stick to 32s. 33s also come with gearing and mpg hits. They are manageable, but wheel spacers, body lift, bad gearing, and low mpg sounds like crappy truck.

I did wheels similar to yours. I have a set of Method 701s 17x9 6x5.5 -12/4.60" offset. I think I went good with the offset. I have a 1.5" front leveling kit and I also run SPC upper control arms. You have to run the maximum negative offset to keep the tire away from the upper control arm. I run 265/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers and it's a little close to the uca. However, I don't rub on the body pinch welds... anymore. I had to fold the right pinch weld. Other than that, I had no trouble with my wheel and tire setup.

Interesting ok that is one way to put it. Ill have to make a clear decision on what wheels i run. Looks like 32s are looking pretty promising. Is OEM considered 31s? As mine are 265/70 R16

This comes in handy comparing tire sizes.

No. 28s are OEM. Another interesting thing I'll add is that I regeared my truck. I have 4.56 gears. That puts me right around "stock". What I mean by that is that the rpms that I run are almost identical to how it would run, stock gears, stock tires. I will regear to 5.29, however, because I want to run 35x11s eventually.

Depends on the truck and trim level. 4x2 & 4x4 w/ TRD have 265/70/16 (31s) as "OEM"...

    A lot
I run that setup but different method pattern on my 4runner.

I tried to squeeze them on my 01 with 2.25" Dobinsons IMS kit, they fit but would rub horribly.

255/85/16 IMO is the 33" to get for the 1st gens.
