What's funny is that I spent 15 years standing between a live drum set and an 800 watt bass amp, and that never bothered me. But, train horns on passenger vehicles piss me right the fuck off for some reason.

Good. Use your hatred. It makes you powerful...

    Excellent.

It's unnecessary and unlooked for. I work in a garage and I still jump whenever fuckers blast their horns inside (even regular horns). I always check them outside.

People that steal the joy of train horns are horrible people. I’d join in drop kicking that truck with you. Train horning should be done respectfully, preferably at a large open dock engaged in a horn battle with a large ship.

On the drive home tonight, just a few miles from home, there's this road...not highly traveled...goes through this wooded, kinda swampy area...45 posted speed (I'm going considerably above that). Well, all of a sudden, I see something in the road, so I slow down. It's a tree down across the road! So, I stop...it's not 1, but 3 trees of a cluster...consider driving over the smaller pieces and be on my way. On second thought, maybe it's not a great idea. I start turning around to go another way around, but then I think: I better call the sheriff's department to get someone out here. If someone hits this crap, they're going to have a bad night, could be real bad as the ditches are deep and full of water. I make the call, tell the dispatcher exactly where and that I'll wait until a squad arrives.

In the meantime, I park in the middle of the road with my flashers on and start dragging the small stuff off the road. The big stuff isn't moving without the winch, it's about 18" around where they broke off. By the time the deputy arrives, I have everything under 6" off to the side of the road and have already warned 1 other driver to turn around. The officer thanks me for getting a head start and tells me the highway department is on the way with a chainsaw. He said the winds had gotten really bad about 40 minutes earlier and there were a couple of other trees down in the county.

We chatted for another minute or so, then I said I needed to be on my way...time for dinner.

One of the customers on my new route is Ammo Inc in Manitowoc. I learned something new about ammo the other day. One of the skids I picked up was marked as HazMat. It turns out that plain shells are obviously non-hazardous. When primers are pressed in, they now have to be listed as hazardous (Explosive). Add powder and a projectile and we're back to non-hazardous...WTF? DOT logic!

I think it has to do more with primers containing toxic chemicals like weird lead and mercury compounds. Think of it more like this: primers in a tray/sealed package don’t leach into environment, primers in an empty shell casing now exposed to air and can leach out the chemicals, fully assembled ammo now primers are closed off again to outside world and safe/stable for environment.

Pretty solid of you to do that, well done!

On the train horn discussion, I always thought that the best "horn" would be the sound of screeching tires. Car in front of you at the light too busy texting to see the light's been green for a bit, the sound of screeching tires and the implied impact would wake the MF'er right up!

I believe you can change the horn sound on Tesla's, but Tesla so not for me.

I have no opinion on train horns.
In H.S. I put this musical horn, of my dad's, in. It played various short tunes. The one I remember and used most was the Dukes of Hazard dixie horn they had on the General Lee. :D
I'd pull into the parking lot and play that.
