805 Tacoma Tuning, @plntpizza, and his friend @jes_manu on Instagram, came to us last night to get their awesome 2017 Tacoma’s dialed in.

Although the rain was on and off, we ensured their vehicles, and our equipment remained dry and safe throughout the process.

Oscar and Manuel had very similar setups. They also had similar goals and driving styles. Due to these observations, we felt the KDMAX Pro Sport throttle option would suit each of them best.

After completion and their individual trips back home, we received communication that we hit the nail on the head.

Welcome to the KDMAX family, guys.

We hope to see you around, and as always..

    Enjoy the rides!

    Drivability, efficiency and performance!
I tuned another 2016 V6 Tacoma today with the KDMax-Pro-10.0.
I Got a text after he drove 2 hours home that he is blown away with the improvements!
He got smooth shifting, more power and better MPG's than his ride to me on the stock tune.

We appreciate everyone's support and feedback.
It is always fun to make another 3rd gen Tacoma owner happy about driving their truck!

I couldn't agree more, just last weekend I took an nice family trip across Virginia and into the mountains....pull through the shifts, proper logic to hold gear (and even speed up) on the inclines....I couldn't recommend v10 highly enough. Heck I've been tuned for over 80K now and my truck has never run better!!

I’m using the sport version right now and I am liking it. I may try normal again just to see how much of a difference there is between the two. I’m glad I decided to put this tune back on the truck.

    Well welcome back!
I am in the lite/normal throttle as my truck is not heavy. Light A/M rims and 265s sure allow it some get up and go....smooth sailing!!

Thanks. Mine is also pretty much stock. I just like that extra get up and go. Now that I’ve got a Sport+ file to try out, I’m guessing I may like that even more.

So question for the tuner gurus. I've had 8.0 since the truck had 100 miles on it. At 42,000 now. I'm having an issue with the tune I believe.

    The issue:
Between the 2-3 shift, the truck will come out of 2nd, rev to redline for about 1 second, then shift to 3rd. The shift is very smooth and nothing can be felt except for the vibrations of the engine. No throttle input and touching the pedal doesn't do anything.

This happened once in the first year after the tune (about 20,000 miles) and has slowly become more common. I have noticed that if I am under mild acceleration and let off the throttle completely just as the trans is coming out of 2nd I can reproduce the issue.

I have also had the truck accelerate uncommanded once while in gear. That was rather scary!

Does anyone know of anything I can do to datalog this event if it isn't documented yet?

We are on 10.0. You need to update or reset and reflash. Either one should fix it.
    Ps.- We didn’t have a 8.0.

I was told 8.0 was a beta. I can message you who the tuner was but he moved away from my demographic. Definitely told me it was 8.0 though.

Update, since I recently turned 10,000 on the odo.

I'm still very glad I got tuned up. Recent trip of about 160 miles of LA freeway traffic, averaging 80-85 but readily able to smoothly transition from slower 65-70 right back to that cruising speed, without the wife batting an eye (OK, they were mostly closed anyway) The drive average was up at 22.1, not bad!

Around town, it just depends on the timing of the lights. If they line up, I can do my 10-mile work trip at 21+ If not, or if people piss me off and I have to do some hard pulls, I drop down to 17. I'm thinking of taking that info to the local City Council meeting, and challenge them to put their money where their mouth is on global warming, and SYNCHRONIZE THE LIGHTS. (sorry, tangent-rage)

I looked, but didn't see any update on the whole Cali smog testing issue. Do I need to get a spare ECU to leave stock, or not?? I still have time before I have to get hooked up, but who knows how soon Newsom might try to adjust CARB rules . . .
