I don't have any sympathy for the company. They were stupid to give an unrestricted card to an employee. I've had a company credit card for years and there are things I can't buy with it because it's restricted. Even if I did try to buy it would be rejected at checkout. (once I tried to buy a legitimate item from a small business that had their business mislabeled with the credit card company. The card was rejected, and 5 minutes later I got a call from the purchasing department wondering what I was doing.)

 

My company card is restricted as well, but shit does happen. My daughter wanted a Herman Miller chair for Christmas, so I told my wife to put it on my Citi card. She grabbed my corporate Citi card. Whoops. Guess I'm paying cash, lol.

About 20 years ago, my manager told me to buy a stack of Leatherman Tools for my team for work use. There was a local gun store literally 1/2 mile from my house, so I stopped in one day and had them order 6 Leatherman Tools for me, and I paid with my company CC. The transaction went through, but a few days later, I got a frantic, and very worried call from someone in our finance/purchasing department asking me "What did you buy at a Gun store???"
