Where did you get the solid window? Is that a factory thing?

From safelite, not factory. It was $450 to have them come to my house and install it in my driveway.

I loved the solid rear window look, cleans it up a bit. I, too, never touched that sliding window.

    Yea looks great!!!

I wonder how much effort it would be to do polycarbonate. I'm guessing a lot but the idea is fun to think about

It it’s anything like the 1st Gen rear window, it’s not hard at all to install a rear window. Just use some rope.

I've broken into my truck through the back window before when I locked my keys inside accidentally. Pretty easy honestly, and no damage or broken glass.

130$ on eBay and about an hour of time.

Carpet tape the old window inside and out. Whack it. Cut old adhesive with utility knife. Glue new window and done.

sliders are useless on anything other than a regular cab.

I just woke up so I had to reread this a few times to realize you meant in the context of windows, not armor. I was about to be like

None of you guys shuttle mountain bikes+bikers riding in the bed or shoot video with people riding on the tail gate, or have dogs in the bed I guess?

Me and my friends all use our sliding rear windows frequently!

I also open it and have long lumber through the window into the cab and over the tailgate when I need some 14 footers or whatever. Man it's just so useful

Honest question, but when you poke the roll cage out the back of the cab is it water tight?

Absolutely. Done right you only have a hole the exact diameter of the tube. Then you braze it and seam seal.

Typically the frame to cab flex is greatly reduced once you cage it

There is virtually zero flex when you tie it all together. But anywhere you attach cage to sheet metal it has to be silicon bronze or it will crack the hell out of the sheet metal in a short amount of time.
