Almost 70° here today, great weather to rack up some break in miles on the bike. I got home from work & immediately headed out to explore Green Ridge.

 

Sweet ride! It looks very much like the XR's from years ago. How is the suspension? Any spring changes needed for 'fine tuning?'

It's a brand new 30year old 650cc dirt bike. Same bike since 1993. I was planning on buying a new KTM 690r enduro but my research kept bringing me back to the simplicity & reliability of the Honda. These XR's are easily hitting 60k-70k miles with just basic maintenance.

 

I started reading the manuals today and it pointed out the easily accessible button to turn the auto shut down off-

 

Wait, we’re supposed to read the manual?

 

Assuming you have to hit it after every startup… or does it save your last selection until the next time it’s pushed? Hate that Toyota is getting onboard with this EPA/Emissions bullshit too!!

 

I rented a Jeep Heep with that bs. It was awful.

It has to be pressed on each start up.
There are a few ways to always bypass it- Note that there are certain conditions in which the Toyota auto start/stop feature will not engage. This includes when you've set your air conditioner to MAX, you're on a very steep include, you've selected power/sport or snow mode, your steering wheel is turned away from center, your battery only has a low charge, you're in stop-and-go traffic, or your fluids are at high temperatures.

Not going to lie… before I bought the Taco, while at Jones, I also test drove and was interested in the Gladiator. I wasn’t expecting much from the Gladiator, it was a Jeep… knew it would be full of letdowns! lol!! But other than the obvious, the start/stop feature it had was a big dealbreaker for me.

 

I’ll have to do some digging… but there is a jumper wire that plugs into the back of the switch… at least there’s one available for GM vehicles… that saves whatever you last select on the button. Maybe they make it now for the Toyotas? Not even sure if it’s really a big deal for you and the wife… but most everyone I know hate that feature whoms vehicles are equipped with it.
