    Morning fellas! just 1 more day and a wake up, then its off to play:D

    Picked up my ICOM IC-V80 Handheld, tuned it to 151.625 and hit the transmit button and the screen said "OFF". My question is does anyone no how to or no where to find a mod to turn those freq. ON:confused:

    Do a search on radio race mod for your radio. You have to open up the hand held and take off a resistor. I had to do that to mine for it to work.

    The ICOM V 80 is a rugged, basic 2 meter HT and here are the instructions to enable the MARS/CAP coverage.

    1. Remove both the [COLOR=blue ! important][FONT=inherit ! important][COLOR=blue ! important][FONT=inherit ! important]antenna[/FONT][/FONT][/COLOR][/COLOR] and the battery pack

    2. Remove the 2 screws on the bottom of the [COLOR=blue ! important][FONT=inherit ! important][COLOR=blue ! important][FONT=inherit ! important]radio[/FONT][/FONT][/COLOR][/COLOR].

    3. Remove the nut on the BNC antenna jack.

    4. Carefully lift the front cover and disconnect the [COLOR=blue ! important][FONT=inherit ! important][COLOR=blue ! important][FONT=inherit ! important]speaker[/FONT][/FONT][/COLOR][/COLOR] plug.

    5. At the bottom right of the [COLOR=blue ! important][FONT=inherit ! important][COLOR=blue ! important][FONT=inherit ! important]LCD [/FONT][/FONT][FONT=inherit ! important][COLOR=blue ! important][FONT=inherit ! important]Display[/FONT][/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR][/COLOR] near the power switch there is a single diode, remove it.

    6. Reassemble the radio in reverse order.

    Thats it, There is not even a need to reset, just turn on the radio and you will have coverage from 136Mhz to 174Mhz on TX and RX.

    Its not in the truck yet but if I had to guess, the width an height of the bed with the wood pieces 18'' long. A buddy from work brought me the wood. Made me happy cuz I was getting ready to go to the back of a Costco and start loading up on pallets. :)
