Not sure what size the steering wheel is on the 3rd gen, it seems to be fine and normal and I could measure it if you need me to. The surface material is not the best in my option and will take getting use to.

There’s no way I would ever buy a small/midsize truck if I needed to tow something regularly. I have no idea what the other midsize trucks’ numbers look like when they tow but it seems like that’s a job for a full size truck.

24 mph with normal driving sounds pretty damn good compared to what I get in my 3rd gen.

The fuel consumption is apparently similar to the v6 while towing according to the TFL test

The 8spd is what gets the t4 closer to the v6, the t4 still does not pull as quick up hill.

What needs to be compared towing is the LO SR t4 against the SR 2.7 4cyl. That will tell you how much more powerful the t4 is towing. The t4 ia always going to have the advantage of the 8spd.

Oh okay. Thanks. Just one of the TFL guys mentioned something about the steering wheel being smaller if I heard them correctly.

I took delivery of mine this morning. I put some details and photos in my introduction to the forums post. Drives real nice, engine definitely sounds different. No more revving to 5k rpm to get power. 8 speed tranny is smooth.

This is incorrect. But okay it doesn’t matter what you think since you made it clear you aren’t buying it

It's antics like these that make me shy away from buying any Toyota product.

Antics like explaining to you that towing uphill at speed is a function of horsepower and it’s unsurprising that two ~280hp engines will pull similarly in similar sized trucks?

I live in the hollers of WV and this truck (24 taco) does way better in the mountain roads than my v6 tacoma I had before the tundra did. (source: trust me bro, I owned both) Don't let some guy posting on forums that disagrees with you stop you from enjoying life or a truck!

Thank you! Biggest surprises so far:
    • No beauty cover on engine
    • Came with a lexus style credit card key in addition to 2 real keys.
    • Has digital key for your phone. Works on my Pixel 7a, so not even an iPhone
    • TSS 3.0 lane keep assist is way more accurate than 2.5+ from the Tundra.
    • Lane keep assist with adaptive cruise on now will slow the truck a little to make corners on freeway safer. (adjustable)
    • 2x 45 W usb c charge ports up front, 120V AC in back seats and 2x usb c charge ports in back (not sure of power output though), also 120V AC in bed along with a new 12V cubby.
There were a couple typical tacoma quirks but I can't remember them right now.

Does the adaptive cruise control still go full throttle when you change lanes from a slower vehicle?

It's now adjustable. There are 3 levels of throttle you can set in the menu. The modes act like this: Grandma (low), Dad (not slow but doesn't mess around) and 16 year old after 6 red bulls on his way to his girlfriend's house when her parents aren't home.

of course you can turn this off altogether. Seems like Toyota knows that some people don’t like Nannie’s. It’s also a good design because if a sensor goes tango uniform, you can just disable the function until you have time to repair, not disabling the truck.

Whoo hoo! Is that what you mean by this:
    • Lane keep assist with adaptive cruise on now will slow the truck a little to make corners on freeway safer. (adjustable)

Nope, that's a different feature! When adaptive cruse is on, and lane keep assist (semi-self driving) is on it can detect the radius of the curve ahead and will decrease speed a bit to compensate. For example, if you're driving along at 75 and a curve the DOT has determined is a 55 mph rated curve (pretty decent curve), it'll slow you down a bit, maybe 5-7 mph for that curve. You can set 3 levels of compensation or turn it off (truck stays at 75 mph).

I think they call the semi-self driving mode "lane tracing assist" now. There are 2 of those modes. Lane departure, doesn't really drive the truck, just alerts you to leaving the lane and lane tracing assist, which really mostly drives the truck.

All of these features can be turned off too. So if you don't like nannies, that's ok.
