Grinding noise from engine/rough idle

Here’s a couple clips of some very strange noises of my 2023 tacoma. 2500 miles. Truck has a very rough idle in gear enough to make the cab shake . On the right right side a hear a whistling/ringing noise and on the left side it sounds like something rattling/grinding off and on . None of these noises are typical ticking noises that you hear from these engines. Listen closely. I hear something lightly"pulsing"/ "scraping" in the 2nd vid. HPFP?? Ill go take a listen to my 100,000 + motor

Normal operating temps, fan off. I don’t hear what i heard in your video.

Best to listen with headphones.

Thanks buddy, I’m kinda thinking it’s a spark plug issue almost sounds like it’s rattling ? Who knows I’m really thinking this sound and this constant rough idle are related. So weird the engine light hasn’t come on though

 

Make sure the spark plugs are tight.

Wouldn’t be the first time a plug backed out.

Gary, I hope you get it figured out and it all works out favorably. I gotta ask though, running rough since day 1? Can you elaborate on why you drove it off the dealer lot?

 

i don't hear a grinding noise and other than an intermittent suction noise i hear, the rest sounds normal to me.

i would think if a plugged backed out far enough where it caused a noise, you would get a light on the dash and code...?

 

Where did Toyota go wrong?

 

The grinding noise is apparent in the first video .to avoid confusion, disregard the 2nd video.
@Gfenza89 . Its better if you let the dealer handle this . Thats what warranty is for. Please update on the outcome.

 

I agree, I wouldn't put a finger on it and let the dealer handle it. You don't want to give them any ammunition about saying "well clearly someone has been in here already messing with things". If you're not comfortable driving it, call roadside. Thats what its there for.

 

I concur OP, don't screw around here! Get your truck to the dealer and let your warranty cover this.
