I did Ceramic/powder on my old kings before they went on the wife’s truck. Been applying both for a decade. What do you wanna know?

How does the coating hold up to weather, chips etc? I read it's thinner than powder coating.

Cerakote is tough stuff if the part is prepped properly. However it is not as tough as powder. Upside is, it’s thin so it doesn’t act as a blanket that traps heat like powder will. It’s also thin enough that threads can be coated with zero impact on functionality of a fastener.

Gotcha, I think I'd be better off powder coating my front control arms. Cerakote seems perfect for painting suspension parts

everything in this photo is Cerakoted 654D48C5-1944-40F7-AA12-5BF08E5C8D0D.jpg

    Also
Baked vs air cure Cerakote is a big deal
Bake on is the only way to go and it is 10x stronger than powdercoat
It also has abrasion/impact/and chemical ratings on the specific paint and binder combination you use via the mixing calculator on Cerakote’s website

*ps I might be the only Cerakote certified person in here (gunsmith)

    I live in kentucky
All my shit is subject to road salt and such
All of it looks the same as the day I coated it
BUT brake fluid and other costic fluids if left for more than 30 min
    WILL STAIN
    But nothing insane
From a distance you can’t even see the stain in this photo on the LCA from brake fluid

    fun fact
    The king shocks military line
    Is all Cerakoted

Eh, if needed to weld on, SI I think is still the better product - they're just so different. Even with a more efficient nozzle, you can see how the Seymour is really thin on sharp corners and casting flash where SI would build a bit more.

I did this when I bought 10 or so cans in 2018 when it was $6 a can from Walmart. No way I'd pay $14 a can for it. I also got a good deal on SI back then which I have a little stockpile of... I actually did paint my rear housing in it, and it's holding up fine in the driveway, no rock chips but a couple of marks from dropped wrenches:rofl:

Idk, if you have to weld something, either paint boils and you have to sand it down and repaint anyway. It's really good for emergency trail repairs, but that's about it imo. I was under the impression real steel in the product would make it more durable, but any 2k product is much more durable.

Anybody need some 1.5” Fk Uniballs $80 pair brand new just used for mock up. F1 fit these are much tougher tolerance and last longer.

    Yes
the ultimate rust prevention is to have your parts hot dip galvanized before paint or powder

Zinc maybe. But galv? Hellll no. That’s about the worst possible thing you could do on something that may require repairs.

Upkeep is hands down the best prevention.

Zinc does infact hold up wildly well
Probably on par with or better than Cerakote
