Eh don't sweat it too much, I was just surprised since I built out a AT4 with a different price. I probably failed to check a box or two.

Understand. I think that is one great thing about GM and Ford which we all complain about Toyota. We can make these trucks truly our own with what options we can select.

OK. Yeah, you basically put my feelings on my wife's 2.4T from her Highlander into precise words.
It's not a SLOW engine - but it must be that turbo lag I feel.

I also feel that the transmission takes a second longer to shift down sometimes than I'd like it to (or than I'm used to maybe).

But I do agree - no problem getting onto the highway or even passing a car or anything.

48k OTD on my 2022 OR at MSRP with tech and some garbage I didn't want.... and I hated paying 48k for that truck OTD. 46k MSRP no thanks. I wanted to want an upgrade to the 2024 since I spend a lot of time on the road but the pricing has made it reallllly easy along with my 2% interest rate

The pricing really doesn't get me. I feel my 23 TRD has enough tech to keep me happy. I think my sticker was 41,500 and then I ended up getting it for 1k off of that.
So not a lot of "extra features" - I'm surprised it came with all it did (radar cruise is probably my favorite).
That said - I'd have no problem moving "down" to an SR5 or something in the new model (assuming I ever decided to get one) to keep it around the same price.
I'd replace the wheels/tires nearly immediately anyway.

So I need to update my opinion of the new Taco after test driving another SR5 yesterday. Took a little family road trip with the family and there was a dealer in the area that has had an SR5 for about 2 weeks that has not been sold yet. I made arrangements on Friday to come by an test drive it. Well an hour later they told me it just sold but the new owner is not picking it up until Monday. However they did inform the new owner about me and he allowed me to test drive it. I wanted my wife's opinion of it so I had her go for a test drive alone and when she got back she said this is way better than the AT4, but looks cheap inside. Well it was an SR5 but I was shocked about her saying it was faster. I took it for a drive and wow....ZERO turbo lag. Not sure if it was just some fluke or the fact the first one I drove had 31 miles on it and this one had 100 miles on it but it was so much better of a driving experience. It has bumped up me back to 70% sure I am getting one and with the wife's input it is at about 85 to 90% now. Leaving a little room in there until I can drive a Ranger. Still waiting for a Sport or OR to drive as well as the hybrids. Oh, I did get to sit in a Limited that was taking off the deliver truck while I was out testing driving. That think is plush! As far as I could tell with all the plastic on it is that is looked almost like a capstone Tundra.

It doesn’t make sense that one VIN would lag and one wouldn’t.

No, but some of the lag could be in transmission learning which could get better with a few more miles

Pretty much what I figured. The first one was on lot 2 days vs the latest one 2 weeks and triple the miles. Assuming it had done some learning.

Keep in mind that the SR5 has only 228 HP and 243 lb-ft. The premium model has 278 HP with 317 lb-ft.

The Canyon has 310HP and 430 lb-ft of torque across all trim levels, including the base trim "Elevation".

That is incorrect, only the base SR automatic has the detuned engine.

Wrong. The SR5 has the 278/317. It's only the base SR that gets the detuned engine...

Sorry for the confusion. You guys have different names for the trim levels than we do in Canada. Hard to keep track

Who decided to change the trim name? That’s really odd.

I want to love the 4th Gen. But I cant convince myself that this is worth $12-15k more than the '21 I bought for $36k and change. It's probably 10% better than the 3rd Gen by most measurements, but its priced way more than 10% more. I know a lot of that is inflation and not just Toyota's pricing. But its still my money.

Don't know what options you have but you can get a 24 OR MT starting at a little over 43k.
