What's under the hood and mileage are you getting? I've read some very impressive numbers , are they for real?

5.3L but I’ve only gone 25 miles so can’t offer much on the MPG yet.

Congrats I really want a full size (tundra just won’t cut it I’ve owned the v8) only thing that kept me away from domestics is the lack of reliability hopefully yours lasts you a while

My brother just got his Chev Silverado 5.3L back from warranty repair. Lifters and cams. There was a waiting list of trucks that needed same. I like GMCs as much as the next guy, but….

Well I only go 4K-5k a year so I’m hoping can get through the 10 year extended warranty period without any major out of pocket expenses. It also has a lifetime powertrain warranty.

Yep. The only cost to him was for an oil change, which was why the truck was at the dealership initially when the problem was diagnosed. I had to tease him about that. :)

A buddy with the same truck in OK is getting 21.9 mpg on the highway. 16-17 mpg in town.

I'd be happy with that. My Prerunner gets 20 MPG no matter what type of driving I'm doing.

He was lucky enough to get a truck with the electronics "shortage" and the cylinder deactivation was not enabled. He had an earlier model with the 8 speed. He said the 10 speed makes all the difference in drivability and how it was tuned with the truck.

See them weekly here, the 6.2s are worse. The warranty will take care of you, just hope it covers a rental. Good looking truck!

Hear hear! Congrats. If it only came down to styling and creature comforts the Sierra is at the top of my list. It's the opposite of a Tacoma philosophy though, which is no frills, proven but dated tech (both mechanically and electronically) and budget materials to make them old reliable.

If money was zero concern, I'd probably be driving a Sierra or a current gen Tundra Limited. But the Taco checks my boxes including price. ;)

Should've been a Tundra, but GMC makes a good truck, too.

I do like the Tundras but being in year 2 of the release was still a little concerning. Plus, I really liked the GMC blue exterior and dark brown interior color combination vs. the Capstone black and white. I'm going to miss the manual transmission but it will make my drive my Boxster a bit more so it's not all bad.

I came from a GM (2022 Silverado) to a Tacoma.

GM stepped their game up with ride comfort, interior design, and drivability. You'll love the truck until the AFM makes it eat the lifters. I had the 5.3 and dumped mine after I already started hearing valvetrain noise and was able to get more for it than I owed. Friend of mine from church has had his 5.3 rebuilt twice already by the dealer under warranty because of the AFM design.

Agreed, that is a concern. I'm not sure if the upgraded DFM is any better than the AFM - I'm guessing not. Hopefully, my limited driving (4k-5k) annual miles and mostly city trips/non-highway will minimize the affects. I bought the 10-year extended warranty so I'm not going to worry about it too much or get the DFM delete.
