Ok, new guy here so I first off want to say how incredibly helpful this site has been in my decision to buy a Tacoma. After a long search I pulled the trigger on a '09 2.7L 5M access cab with just over 100K and a frame replacement.

My question is this: is there an off-the-shelf cable that plugs into the factory back-up camera harness so it can be plugged into a new head unit? From what I can tell, I already have the camera and wiring (no mirror/display) so it should be a plug and play situation.....BUT can't seem to find a cable (eBay, Amazon, Crutchfield, etc). Am I correct? Any guidance is appreciated!image1.jpg image2.jpg image3.jpg image0.jpg

I recently wired the OEM camera on my 09 to an after market head unit tapping the signals into the factory wiring. From my research previously there was no plug and play solution. The OEM camera quality is not that great though.

Appreciate the insight. What was the solution you used - a harness or did you ditch the harness altogether?

To answer your question NO but there is hope. I did this mod a few months ago https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/oem-camera-connection-below-dash.30889/#post-476677 it works with our 09 tacoma.

It is the only way to get it to you new head unit. It's not too hard at all and the video is very good.

You can purchase mating connector to the mirror, crimp needed terminals to camera wires, then to aftermarket HU.

Ok, this makes sense. I get that the av cable will be the camera + and - and the reverse signal will be a wire from the HU but the power….?

Why is all the Rum gone?:burp:

If you are referring to the overhead connector, you'll need to jump pin #1 to #7 so it can supply camera power at IGN.
