Well spoke to soon. Can't get the CV in. Guessing the press nut tweaked the hubs splines a bit.

Triangular file is your friend. That tool is supposed to have a thrust bearing to avoid this problem tok

Does have a bearing but it's on the end you put the impact on. Instructions had the nut which is tapered go in the back side. Was worried about it when I did it. Should have check it before I installed the hub again.

I suppose I can take it out again. Make sure it fits a CV then install again. Be a pain to work on it with it in there. Plus don't want metal shavings in the new bearing.

Least it's easy to take out with the tool. Probably not awesome on the new bearing...but oh well.

I'd just file it in place, won't take much, blow the shavings right through.

So you removed the hub anyway? Well in the future you can make a simple thrust bearing with two washers and some grease in between em.

The cat has a bunch of steps washers to use to push things out with. The smallest one is just barely too big to be able to work with the hub. So I think I'm going to modify it to make it work seeing as how it looks like I'm going to have to do this again.

I had pressed the hub out before talking about not being able to get the CV in. Because when I first put the hub in it was rubbing on the outer seal. So I removed it to press the seal on more. Only to see that it would not go on anymore anyway. Which is kind of annoying.

So yeah I think I trashed my bearing all for the seal which kind of sucks. Expensive mistake lol win some loose some.

It's weird if I back the hub off just a tiny bit the bearing spins just fine. If I suck it all the way down it barely wants to move at all. I can't really find anything that says it needs to be preloaded a certain spec or anything. Those hard know if my bearing is just fucked or I'm not supposed to bottom the hub out. Or I am and it'll loosed a bit once I drive it.

Think I figured it out. I was pressing the ABS tone ring retainer on too tight. Therefore sandwiching everything together in one solid piece into the spindle.

Edit nope that didn't make a difference but the CV in and torqued it down and it still won't spin for s***

All done now and on all 4s. Think it's fine. Take it to the car wash tomorrow and test drive it.

I am curious about the positioning of the hub. How did you work out the binding issue?

Sort of. I ended up pulling the hub to release the ABS spacer. Then pull the spacer out, pressed the hub back in. Then slotted a CV in and sucked it together. Seemed to be better. Once I pulled the CV to actually install it all together(was using a spare to test fit) it spun better.

New day new project new fun!

Nothing crazy just oil change on the daily. But put in my new blower resistor. Then the weird begins!

At first nothing worked. Then one by one they came on. However the two middle settings are back wards. Which is odd. Either way just glad to have high again before the next big freeze.

Which doesn't seem like it'll happen. Been nothing but balmy and sunny here.

Hope we are done freezing. Not sure what the snow pack is at but it's been balmy here too, and I am all ready for warm weather. Walking the dog when it's below freezing has gotten old.
