That isn't even legal in a decent state.

    Stuff. Also things.
How is the job search going, Kira?

I’m becoming more jaded with my current situation by the day, but holy balls, the idea of putting myself out there for a new gig makes me damn near have a panic attack.

it's pretty brutal right now.... given that 200,000~ software engineers have been laid off the last year employers are offering less for more experienced roles and being super picky so I'm looking at taking a pay cut just to get similar responsibilities. The majority of applications are never responded to, not even a "we're not a good fit" or "the role was filled".

the last time you checked in it sounded like it was already pretty stressful there, sounds like things have been getting worse?

I hate that, I would appreciate even a simple pre-generated "No thanks" at least. I have an in-person interview tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it.

What’s the job about? And do you usually wear a suit and tie, or just a nice button down?

I didn’t end up getting the planning job, even though one of the guys took me aside and told me I did great. I think they were always gonna hire someone they knew, even though I technically did nothing wrong. Favoritism and nepotism are rampant out there.

that's a bummer, glad to hear that they let you know that you did a good job in the process even if it didn't work out. I think that's important to know !

It would be a move from public primary/secondary to public college level doing similar work. I typically wear a nice button down and khakis with some nice shoes, maybe a tie. This campus is a satellite of my Alma Mater so I'll probably bust out one of my embroidered button downs.

Yea they said there’s still a chance since there’s another position open. Honestly I was feeling a bit hesitant about starting another 8-5 grind since I really vibe with my coworkers at the coffee shop and enjoy the work. I’m just barely treading water financially though.

I hope you get it. Universities are usually really solid employers, with decent pay and good benefits and work life balance.

Probably missed it in the past, but are you in school while working at the coffee shop?

No, I graduated in 2019 and just finished my masters last spring. I was working as a contractor last year until it rains its course with the new FY.
