Making this post for anyone trying to find information on child seat space. Got to sit in a SR5 yesterday with my child seat in back. I was pleasantly surprised with the available space. There was more space than my Jeep Wrangler, which isn't saying much. Slightly more front leg room and a less upright seating position. For reference I'm 6'PXL_20240210_184359221.MP.jpg PXL_20240210_184415768.MP.jpg

I know this is only in relation to Jeep Wranglers and the Graco Extend2fit I have but hopefully it will help someone a little.

Diono make a compact seat which gives a little more room. Looks like what you have works for you, but for anyone over 6'3" this is what we used in our 3rd gen and it helped. The only downside is its a very soild and heavy seat, so its awful to travel with.

If you get a chance could you measure from the back of the rear seat to maybe the top of the map pocket ? Its really hard to get a sense of the size without a measurement. Glad the seat is working out. I have a kid inbetween the child/booster seat so will be front facing and I have real concerns there will be zero comfort back there and also be way too upright. Its not good for kids to be really upright in those seats they can fall asleep and have their breathing obstructed.

I wonder how the interior size compares to the 3rd gen.

I think it is just about the same. But I know that the difference in child seat position from my Jeep to the Tacoma has to do with where the top of the seats come in contact. It allows for a more inclined front seat in the Tacoma. Could be similar for 3g to 4g but I don't know

It is very close in size. At the dealer I was at they said some people say the same, some say smaller "feeling" because the seat shape has changed. The 4th gen seems to have a tiny tiny bit more room child seat wise because they removed as much space as possible behind the back seat. Seems like the back seat is a little be deeper. For reference, I did measure a 2024. I am 5'6" and with the front seat adjusted for me comfortably there was ~28" from the back of the front seat (middle stitch line) to the back seat where your lower back would touch.. My CRV set up similarly has about ~32-33". The other notable difference is how upright the seats are. Taco very upright rear seating position I guess for obvious reasons. So for front facing car seats the child is very upright. Reclining the seat would eliminate the small amount of space they have for legs IMO.
