The inclusion of our two-wheeled companion has been incredible. Gobbles up the miles, allowing us to explore a lot more than we were in the truck. Plus, ~60 to 100 mph in just a couple of seconds to pass people is just too addicting. Fucking beast, even when 2-up and loaded with gear.

    Compliments the truck well too.

As of now, no. I've been with the company for coming up on 5 years (defense contractor) but I was on a contract for most of that time doing technical stuff. When we moved to AZ last summer, the company wanted to keep me but wasn't sure where to put me. So as of December, I've been on the business development side, pursuing opportunities, assisting with proposals, responding to RFIs, etc. This isn't my background in the slightest so they're sending me to some training. Just an hour ago I was informed I'll be managing a contract, no idea what that entails.

Right on, being skilled on both the technical and business side is a dangerous combination so I think this will be well worth the effort! If you ever decide to try for the cert, I have a (maybe outdated?) NCMA study book you can borrow.

If you are in the Phoenix area you probably work for a competitor, but if you ever have any questions that are vague enough, or want to commiserate, shoot me a PM!

Thank you! That's a kind offer. I doubt we're a competitor, it's a small Virginia-based company. That's why I'm fully remote, we have no presence over here.

If you need customized desk space, this is what I built 15 years ago. The legs if the desk mid-span are only 1/2 deep, 3 pieces so it moves more easily than it looks. Bookcase to the left was designed to match.

I am taking bets on how long it will be before no empty desk space remains.

2x4s, plywood. Designed for what I wanted. Just because I have a massive ego and am bored ... ask if you think I can help.

I know I know but the GFC threw me for a loop and that really hurt the wallet.

I see that lotion over there within arms reach of the office chair. :D

Here’s my setup, I’ve been having fun making it comfortable and somewhere I don’t mind spending my workdays.

I had free time 15 years ago, and a full basement. Thought I had designed it enough to get out of the basement easily but still had to do surgery on the shelf (top two layers cut off that were damned cute) and the big desk section to the left.

Given my imagination, it is a good thing alcohol did not figure into the designing sessions.

My biggest problem is space! I’m crammed in to a pretty small guest bedroom…

Still, I had room to expand. Designs for "small bedroom" can be equally creative. But some need smaller desk by choice ... they need the limit.
