My dealer installed my shell and I had leak issue in front of the bed and I went back there, they fixed for no charge...

Just show the dealer where the leak is coming from so they will fix it. They have water hose to find the leak then fix it on the spot.

Edit: They can take the window off and put seal on it then place window back on. That's what I think. If not, they will replace the window with new one.

if you take apart the header bar and bed caps, you can see that the cap is not really
    Welcome to the club.

When I sold mine, the new buyer already did research and knew they weren't 100% watertight.

Question for anyone with RTT and awning on their cap. I need to buy crossbars to build a rack for my cap, but most of the racks on the market are made with 48” crossbars. The problem is my tent is about 53” wide and I need some space to be able to operate the latches on the tent. What awning mounts are you guys using and how long are they?

I have a Leer 100XR and a Prinsu. Standard width probably 48”. I have a doghouse tent and 270 awning. I used the mounting brackets that came with the awning but had to make a spacer that was approx 1/8 thick to get above the side rail of the rack. My tent is a soft canvas tent not a hard top so I don’t have latches. The past season was the first year I used this setup, I ended up getting 1” riser feet to add this year to assist in lifting the tent a bit so I can more easily access the cover when setting up and tearing down the tent. If you’re building the rack, could you not get some 80/20 that’s a little wider than the standard 48”?

I’m aware there are different sizes ones, just curious of what others have come up with. I plan on buying 1x2 extrusions from tnutz.com, just not sure about length and also what awning mounts people are using. I was actually planning on making a prinsu style rack just sourcing the parts and hardware and cutting the aluminum myself.

The plan is to go wider with the crossbars, just not sure how wide. I don’t want it to look funny with the awning sticking way out to the side.

What tent do you have? If your tent has the track bars mounted at the bottom of the tent for mounting onto the rack's crossbars. Which you can move the screws anywhere that fit in between the track bars and crossbars. They have mounting feet for tent.

There are youtube videos on how to set up the tent on the rack. You can see the mounts, bars, etc. You get the idea. No need to get wider crossbars for the tent. You can slide the screws in track bars or crossbars.

The issue isn’t the mounting of the tent, it’s how people are mounting the an awning on prinsu style cap rack with a tent that is slightly wider than the rack itself. The confusion is probably my fault I went back a reread my question and realize I worded it funny.

Ah. My bad, I was thinking wrong..

I have no idea but I think that tent is bit too big for that. But I am sure 48" wide tent is best for your truck and you can mount awning on the rack rails.

Unless your tent isn't 53" width on each side, I mean 53, this side, 48 other side. Know what I mean? If so, turn the tent other way. If all sides are 53". I don't know if any vendors have awning extended mount kits for wide tent.

It’s a wedge tent so only one way to mount it.

I understand that... Call the awning vendor and ask about extended awning mount kits.. So they will help you out.

I also have a Leer 100 XR, and the thing leaks like a sieve. Constant water, intrusion, and regular mold issues as a result.

Unfortunately, taking it back to the dealer isn't feasible is there all the way across the country. Is this something I could get fixed by an authorized dealer in my area?

Alternatively, is there a thread that details how to water tight the whole bed and cap? I've done the basics like pull the bed rails and seal the corners joints, etc. but water is still getting in.

Where is water getting in? The front of the bed, the tailgate, the windows?

Yes you can take it to the dealer in your area. No matter where.

If it is leaking from the front of the bed (where the slide window is), then the topper will be lifted up by dealer installers and put sealant or whatever it is on the rail gaps. If still leaking, keep looking at the gaps to put more seal in.

If you prefer to do it on your own, put more seal in to stop leaking.

I have included a video for you to see: Don't rewind.. I have forward the video for you to where the gaps are. So you know what to do. Here it is:

It appears to be entering towards the rear, around the rail attachments/clamps that secure the shell to the bed. I can't determine for sure whether it's leaking in from the window, or wicking up from the bed rail.

It also used to leak at the front corner joints, but I have successfully sealed those and haven't had any water intrusion there since I filled those joints.

It could possibly be from the bed rails. If that is the case, I followed the steps in the link below. Granted I have not gotten my shell placed yet but I did it in preparation for possible leaks. Hope this helps.

100XR on 2023 TRD Pro, short bed. Prinsu topper rack install this week once the feet come in, I'll send a pic once installed.

Anybody else have OCD issues with how the Leer shell juts out from the bed along the base sides and tailgate end like it's a little too big? I get they're trying to prevent the shell from rubbing the truck body, but ARE and other fiberglass shells seem to have a more flush look. And it doesn't solve for water leaking, as the cab side doesn't hang over the bed. If it weren't a huge pain in the ass I'd consider swapping my Leer for something more aesthetically pleasing. Someone please tell me I'm insane...

That is what is done to cover (hide) the bed rail caps. My Snug Top is same way.

Funny looking? A little. But, seeing the bed rail cap between the bed rail and the shell? Not as aesthetically pleasing.

    You'll get used to it.

    Truck looks nice.
