60+ year old thread.

sixtys/wannabes/rock-n'-rollers. My claims to fame are having seen Hendrix, Steppenwolf, Led Zeppelin (during their first tour), and Sly & the Family Stone. Oh! I also saw the Who do "Tommy" and smash their equipment to pieces afterwards.

 

Some really great music right there, never saw Sly, or Jimi.

 

Guess my hillbilly roots didn't extend to seeing the "name" bands of the era! But......several of my friends and our GF's went to the "Legend Valley Dixie Jam" in central Ohio, 1978. Outdoor farm field / campground filled with a huge crowd of people and the "Earl Scruggs Review" - the "Outlaws" - "Pure Prairie League" and others for entertainment. Don't remember exact details - straggled back home afternoon the next day. My buddy Paul called it the "largest encampment of hilligans in the western hemisphere".....

 

That would have been a FUN show! The Outlaws! Loved them...Green Grass & High Tides, their cover of Ghost Riders..wow! I think they have all passed on. Tampa boys.

Got done posting yesterday, went outside and did the driveway etc.. came back in to no power, it went off around 1:30 yesterday and just came back on, PITB but could have been worse.

I remember when that album came out, they wouldn’t play it on regular FM stations, but WABX would play it.

 

"Hilligans" I like that one! I saw Earl Scruggs and his sons at the Main Point in Ardmore PA, probably around 1970 or so.

 

Truly a small world, I grew up at Grand River and Telegraph

are people really that stupid??? I've watched a couple of video's of people arguing with cops and ending up being arrested. OMG and in some, the apple didn't fall far from the tree
