Did you by chance run this wheel / tire combo without a lift? I've got a really good deal lined up locally for those wheels with a 255/85r16 KM3 and I'm curious about rub with a stock suspension.

 

I ran those wheels with Toyo M-55 235/85R16 on my (almost) identical 2018, which fit fine.

The 2022 came TRD-lifted, and when I moved the wheels over and added the 255s the dealership in Nelson did and awesome job with the adjustments to make it work.
My understanding is that without the lift, you may have rubbing on the mudguards at full turn, but the lift avoids that, but it’s close.

The KM3 is a bit smaller diameter than the Toyo MT, so I suspect you would be OK with just removing the flaps.

New to Tacomas, I am trying to see whether the 255/85r16 on a FJ beadlock wheels would be more prone to rub due to a slightly more extruded offset, stock suspension.

if you are using wheel spacers, then it is definitely the cause of rubbing, have you removed them and has the rubbing went away? cheers!

 

Wheels and offset are key. Bought my 22 new in December of 22. April of 23 at 6800 miles I put on 255/85/16 Yokohama G03. 12 months later and on third set of tires I’m at 98728 miles and on another continent. Truck has seen everything that can be seen in and off-road. Not one rub anywhere.

Using stock wheels with +25. All stock suspension stock ride height. Lifting reduces suspension travel and is not needed to fit larger tires.

 

definitely agree, and that is why I asked, given the Stock TOYOTA beadlock wheels are i think +!3mm instead of +25mm that comes with the truck. I 100% agree that wheel is everything, if you are planning on using full suspension travel, it doesn't matter how much lift you have (most of the case).

 

Since this thread got revived….Anyone fitting these on stock suspension with 0mm offset wheels?

 

I'd assume a little bit of rubbing, I remember I saw someone said they rub with +13mm wheels plus 1.25inch (31mm) spacer, so that equates around say -18mm, so it is not exactly what you are looking for but only 18mm outwards from 0mm. which is only 13mm outwards from trd wheels.

 

On the flip side +4mm wheels seem to have zero issues….

 

then I doubt that extra 4mm arch would rub that bad?

I’m pretty sure you’d be good to 0 offset. 13 won’t be an issue.

 

If you have extended range shocks you can improve the total travel a bit.

 

yeah- it was mentioned earlier- i removed spacers when i installed my coopers. no issues after removal

 

Ok, guys, I have been debating in my mind for the past week whether to go with 265/75r16 or 255/85r16, both would be load range C preferably.
Only tire I see available in the above spec are:

For 265/75 r16 Load range C:


For 255/85 r16 load range C:



While accepting the ride quality of them would significantly change compared to the factory non-LT tires, however I am still not sure how much hit would they each has on MPGs, if any one would chime in on how much impact did your 255/85r16 or 265/75r16 (please specify your load range too) have on your tacoma compared to stock tires that will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

 

Load range E in 265/75 dropped me 2ish mpg from stock, with tune. Same size in SL also dropped me 2ish mpg over stock, without tune . KO2 and ultraterrain.

 

The faux beadlock wheels have a +10 mm offset. Sport wheels are +30, Off-Road are +25.

The Falkens are larger diameter (33.1" versus 31.6") , so you'll potentially gain a bit of MPG on the highway due to the 4.75% increase in distance traveled per revolution of your engine, but you'll have a bit of a negative performance hit in town. Also note that the description of the Falken is "Off-Road All-Terrain" and the Cooper is called an "On-Road All-Terrain." Those descriptions might be a better guide as to which is the better choice for you.
