    ebags is good stuff. one of the few daily advertisement emails that i don't automatically trash in the morning.

    i hope it's a good pack. if i didn't just love my eureka blackjack i probably would have bought one for myself. the one brand that has never let me down is Mountainsmith. i bought a daypack 8 years ago and it has held up well. still looks new and i have abused it to hell and back.

    So I wanted to give you guys an update on the stove I purchased. To refresh your memory I bought a Brunton Raptor pocket stove back in Dec 2010. I've only used it twice in the field and this last time it broke. I suggest going with the MSR pocket Rocket if you are looking into ultralight pocket stoves.

    The thread assembly, & O-Ring completely stripped out. I started to thread the stove onto the canister, and I've noticed that you have to get the stove pretty snug for it to work properly. So while putting the last "Umph" to get it nice and snug, the stove comes off and the threads and o-ring are still attached to the canister. WTF?!?! Its sleeting outside, and I'm fucking hungry! I tried to repair it, but there is now way. I called Brunton yesterday and left them a message still waiting on a return call.

    So, I'm moving on no matter what Brunton says. I'm buying a new stove, and I think I've narrowed it down to these two. One of them a TW member mentioned he had on this thread.

    I really like the design of these two, and want to stick with a canister type fuel system. I was looking into the MSR Whisperlite International that some of you own and I just don;t know about it.

    I have checked that Brunton out and it looked pretty shady. Sucks you had to find out that way though!

    Yea, I did backyard test it a few times, and it worked great. Cooked two meals on it at home. The actual field test is a whole another story, but counts the most! lol


    I'll probably won't buy a Brunton anything for the remainder of my life. The customer service won;t get back to me on the situation either so, I'll warn others about the Brand too. I don't want to see a fellow hiker in this same situation.

    Just to chime in, I did a ton of ultralight backpacking as a kid with my dad and continued on til my later teen years. I liked brunton but what I have come to see is that they are the "cheapo" version of ultralight / backpacking products. They claim things that I have rarely ever seen. My stoves never worked, broke easy, always had problems, and rarely ever cooked as suggested by them. We finally switched to companies like msr and once you do that you NEVER EVER go back. You spend a little more but I still have a msr stove from 8 years ago.... working better than ever.... and love it!
