North East Skiing Thread!!

Sweet! Any tele stuff to try? My wife and I and 1 of my two daughters are dedicated pinheads…

 

I think a cap of some sort is my next move. I haven’t camped out in the truck as the backseat probably sucks lol

 

Anyone going to cannon tomorrow? I’ll head up to be there for open

 

I like the cosmetics of the cab height but I'd like additional head room of a mid rise. But this works and allows me to camp at ski areas and get more days a season.

 

Yeah I feel like if I can find one that’s a bit taller I can get away with it with a roof rack

 

A foot at my house and almost nothing at the mountain..

 

Lol that happened to me in January. Got 10” at the mountain and came home to shovel 20..

Me too. So disappointing. I drove 3 hours, white knuckle through the storm only to find more snow on my truck than at the mountain

 

Yep. The snow totally missed where it needed to go. Sullivan County, which was slated to get 6-10" at one point. I have cameras at my place, so I can see what did or did not fall. The only snow that fell was the end-flurries, which didn't even dust the ground. I knew at that point that the Belle, Hunter, and Windham got nothing....

It was too coastal.

 

Not that familiar with using the NOAA site but this looks like its allegedly this weekend..?

Hope its on, going to vermont.

Edit: looks like ~6" at smuggs for tomorrow morning. Too bad I go saturday lol

 

Vacation week incoming!!!

Where are you guys heading to avoid the crowds this weekend? I am thinking Saddleback maybe. It will likely be crowded but not Sugarloaf/Sunday River crazy.

I will most likely go to Black of Maine or maybe Black of NH.

How has Whaleback been? That could be another possibility.

 

If you only do park, Whaleback can be an option..

But last I looked its like 4 trails open :/

They rely on natural snow quite a bit and this year so far hasn't been generous.

Went to mountain creek in Jersey for some night skiing on Valentine’s Day, snow was great, but a feature in the terrain park got me… came down hard on my shoulder.
level 3-4 AC separation. (That’s the collarbone joint where it attaches to the shoulder) surgery immanent.. seasons over for me..

Anyone truck camp at Sunday river? I think I’ve heard they’re cool with it but want to double check. Want to make a trip there and sugarloaf whenever the snow dumps again

 

Man, that's rough! sorry to hear it.
Heal up well, and get drinking bone broth to rebuild that connective tissue.

Dislocated my shoulder in a skateboard crash a couple of years ago, and it was a long time before feeling pain free and capable again.

Once you're doing rehab, I highly recommend mobility and bodyweight exercise.
