Sound like you would save a lot of money buying a used 2wd truck at a steal or a small car if you don't need the bed with that kind of annual milage.

Thanks. I’m just looking for a vehicle that has a bed for my weekend projects and my wife’s gardening supplies.

Yes, this. 100 percent. But, the much talked about auto sales collapse for close to a year now, maybe occurring. Whether they occur for the truck I want is to be determined.

Well, it is a 2wd truck in Texas after all....they have to do something to move those.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Dealerships will put these lower prices online to rope you in but then show you the added options that they won’t remove to inflate the price

I think Elon is playing the Amazon gambit. Sell at little/no profit (or even a loss) to gain market dominance. Yes, he has a lot of competition but Tesla is strictly electric which simplifies manufacturing and supply chain. He also got a huge head start with the recharging network and will dominate there. Too bad he colored way outside the lines on the Cyber Truck styling.

That's a bait and switch and illegal in most states.

It's illegal to do it on purpose. And the burden of proof lies on the consumer. All a dealer has to do is say, "oops sorry, not sure why the online price is wrong, we'll look into it. Since you're here, lets talk monthly payment."

Ford doing a deal with Tesla to now use the Tesla charging port as the standard was huge. Tesla now owns the BEV charging standard for NA, which is in effect like owning all the gas stations for BEV's. Investing in all that tesla supercharger infrastructure early on was truly a 4D chess move.

The Tacoma will do that just fine, although a little pricy. My brother in laws use case is pretty much identical to yours and he bought a Ford Maverick and is happy with it. My parents are also in search of something for a similar use case and I also suggested one of the lower priced trucks like the Maverick/Santa Fe, mainly because of the step in height etc.

If you are not attached to new, there are usually some screaming deals to be found on 2wd older generation Toyota trucks and other models as well. If 4wd is not needed, you can really make out price wise with a 2wd.

I'm not trying to discourage you from a Tacoma by no means, if you want it get it and it will get the job done, I just don't like spending money needlessly and when you described your annual mileage and use case, I thought I would mention other alternatives that would save you a bit of money, money that can be put other places.

I have needed a bigger work truck (more payload) around the property for a couple of years now and I think I have pretty much decided to find a screaming deal on a used 2wd something that I don't mind beating up a bit.

I'd think when you put it on a website which can be easily changed in minutes that should take that 'oops sorry' scenario out of the equation.

In this case...this dealer does not add on dealer crap. Unsure why they are discounted already but discounts are out there already. I attached the window sticker.

The 3G forum has stickies for "How much did you pay for your 20xx Tacoma?" I think we need one now.

Good to see. Thanks for following up. Maybe this is a real sign of the car market cooling. Lot's of speculation around new car prices lately but if dealers are truly discounting new model Toyotas then that would seem to be proof.

What’s up with all the white trucks? There seems like more shots trucks for sale than anything else. It’s so boring.

Fed interest rates are going no where for next 6 months....that is going to help cool it for sure.

They are also calling it a TSRP rather than MSRP. Whatever that means.

That is true. It very likely isn't 'just' the car market, but all markets.
