I have a buddy who works in a custom shop. He like the Tisas more than the last Springfield I took to him, ha. Can't speak on the Colt though.

Just learned that Holosun is better for G43x because of the footprint does not interfere with the rear (default-white crap) sight.

But some G43x MOS models come with a Shield MOS pre-installed. Does anyone know if Shield sights are better than Holosun? I am told Holosun very-occasionally-but-often-enough has a "quality control problem", and these are too expensive for games.

Also what is the opinion on open or closed projection sights? Is the risk of getting dirt inside and needing cleanout enough to prefer open to closed?

Resident optics nerd reporting in. Holosun is pretty good to go, I wouldn't worry about the quality but I avoid them simply because I would prefer to not spend money that goes to China if I can. Totally up to you on that one. I know I pay out the ASS for Trijicon for roughly the same feature set but I know it's US $$$ and basically bombproof.

Open v. Closed emitter sights is a big argument, in my opinion open emitter is the way to go right now since closed emitter has not had enough time to mature. At this point I have not heard of ANY closed emitter optic that hasn't had some kind of seal failure (moisture ingress), even the gucci gang shit with eyewatering price tags. Also you still have to bareknuckle box people for the CHANCE to buy an Aimpoint Acro.

With open emitters you have a shot at clearing your obstruction- be it dirt or water, there's a non-zero chance that your first shot sends that shit flying and clears your optic. You can also try to blow it away or wipe, but at the same time if you slop mud in there you're pretty much done until you can get a qtip in there.

So personally, I'd rather have something where I had a chance to clear the emitter vs something that if it's fogged or moisture on the inside the answer is "tough shit."

Thanks for that information, especially open/closed. Trijicon is notably more than Holosun ... just checked. I am watching my jump from a G45 (Ameriglo iron sights) to the G43x. Commufornia allows the G43x. But MOS G43x almost requires an instant red-dot because default sights are horrid and as I would likely sell my heavier G45 I need a night-sight system.

Living across the border from CA (PHX is close enough to that) has me always ready to hand over the $$$.

Went from open to enclosed for my EDC. Got tired of dust, dirt, lint, whatever getting in it. Enclosed has been much better in that regard obviously, but is also nice having the extra real estate to rack the slide, although I use the front of my slide.. regardless.. I have zero reasons NOT to go enclosed. Sealing issues hasn't been.. an issue yet. Will edit/report back if that ever changes. But sweat and other moisture hasn't done anything.. and we live in AZ so. I also just have more "peace of mind" with the optic and pistol in general when throwing it in my bag when I need to or my desk at work, etc. since it's "enclosed". Just my 2 cents from carrying with both.. as far Holosun vs whatever.. Holosun = best bang for your buck.. fight me.. and allows you to ball out on other things instead..

I kept dragging on feet on getting a IR device, and really hoping the Holosun IRIS ends up being what I've been waiting for.

    Not enough
I have guns set up with Sig, Holosun, RMR, SRO, Acro P2, Steiner MPS. My primary work gun is running the MPS. The majority of my optics are Holosun/open emitter. Merely due to cost when you're buying so many darn optics. My more recent builds run enclosed emitters.

I prefer the enclosed emitter optic. It "feels" like it index's better for me on the draw and centers up. I think my brain fixes any alignment issues if I'm slightly off more intuitively than an open emitter. Sorta like holding up a large, but narrow ring and making sure it is aligned versus doing the same with a toilet paper roll.

That being said, if you wanna run open emitter, the SRO window feels huuuuge.

I'm planning on picking up a Holosun Comp for my 320 fullsize build for the larger window. It will be a duty/target pistol tho.

Anyone interested in a BCM 7in 300 blk upper? I still need to strip it down - just putting some feelers out first. It has less than 200 rounds through it. Hit me up...

Free if anyone wants to pick them up. Haven’t used them in forever and getting rid of shit as I move. They are pretty warm but figured I offer them before trashing them.
