I bought 5 quarts of redline 75w85 for my diffs and 2 quarts of redline 75w90 for my t case. I had to open the last quart of both. And had some left over. I'm thankful to have a friend that's a great mechanic. I have him do work for me on the side when needed. It's nice to find someone who you can trust and be honest with you and do good work.

Your right about that, if you look at the back of any of toyotas oils, ExxonMobil is their supplier.

Thank you for confirming that. I once asked the service manager if their "bulk" oil-change oils (conv/syn) were Mobil products. Their answer was non-committal, but I got the feeling they are. It makes sense, espcially when the name is on the bottles. I'm happy with either flavor: I have used Mobil oils for many years. Conventional for summer and synthetic for winter. The engine cranks at the same speed no matter how cold it gets in these parts, (maybe a little but slower when it's in the single numbers or below: but that's the battery). When I'm in central Maine in the dead of winter and it's bone-cold , I care more about cold starts than summer starts.

I'm about to service my transmission. So, I have some toyota ws in my room right now, of you look at the bottom left, it will clearly say in bold that ExxonMobil is their supplier. Same with their oil bottles

I love to watch the car care nut, and he's not wrong about this, on the oem toyota parts, they are not afraid to tell you who their supplier is right on the box and tell you where it's made.

Great to know. I had the dealer do the transmission as well at 104,000. "Toyota WS" right on the invoice so this is good info to know. Even though references out there indicates it is not full-synthetic, I would personally select this (WS) over any other full-synthetic brand because it's a Mobil formulation specifically produced for Toyota: Especially on an Aisin transmission manufactured by a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toyota themselves.

I can wait until a bottle of Toyota-branded Full Synthetic transmission fluid appears that says: "Manufactured for Toyota by Exxon/Mobil" on the back.

I definitely wanted the ws fluid because it's toyotas world standard fluid as you said. I looked into redline, but I didn't like the fact it had certifications for Ford and gm stuff. So, I spent $15 a quart, paid the price and done. Transmissions are not something to play around with. They are the pickiest thing you can put fluid in a vehicle in my opinion. Stuff like differentials, you can basically dump any gear oil in them and they won't care to much. Unless you have a lsd.

75-85 or 75-90 full synthetic Mobil one readily available. I assume u have off-road package since u have a lock. Sports package needs additives.

    Yeah.
Only if the diff is a true LSD. True LSD was not a thing on any 2012 models.
