Wouldn't make a purchasing decision on that estimate, but the engineering big brain who make this panel one piece has me thinking the platform is not designed with repairs and longevity in mind.

Cool trucks. See a ton of them in Michigan. Whenever I see them on the road though the front end reminds me of the hazmat suit monsters from Monsters Inc lol

The range is pretty terrible on those E vans. I wonder how many miles the typical Amazon or UPS driver does per day?

The range is not grear on those vans, Rivian beats Ford here and no numbers for the E-Sprinter yet. I'd guess the average route is between 30-100 miles or more. There are probably a good number of routes in the US where the driver has to refuel at the end of their route to make it back.

I like the looks of the Rivian SUV. The truck is not as good. But Taco is still better

I just recalled seeing a R1T the other week, but in front of it was a Nissan Hardbody regular cab 4x4 manual. Amazing seeing two trucks on the road that are worlds apart.

That's more solid a design than a Tacoma. That frame and passenger cage looks tough and it has to be for the weight and body flex mitigation. It earned a top IIHS safety award also. The panel is really the only way to attach that to the frame it seems unless you want split pieces all over.

Check out Rich Rebuilds on YouTube about his initial experience with the R1T. To each their own, but the network is not established enough to reliably use across country. I, for one, will pay-up to put gasoline in my truck in 5 minutes than wait 30min to an hour at a charging station that still requires me to pay $$. Plus what recently happened with all those teslas stranded due to a storm and power outage has me happy with my recent 2023 Taco.

Well those Teslas were parked at a long term lot and they left their sentry mode on. Driver error in part.

It's more SUV than truck. R1T is only available with a plush interior, single piece body construction, tonneau cover, and it has airbags on all four corners. I can't recall any pick up that has a full air ride suspension that is fully height adjustable.

Agreed. I still can’t imagine sacrificing so much time to charge a vehicle. At the end of the day, I’d rather spend my money on quality time with family and friends when I’m on a road trip…the extra $60k+ I saved on getting my Tacoma can be used for 5-10 years worth of family trips. Just saying lol.

Yeh not for me at the moment either. But those that want to can take it cross country no problem. Just have to be willing. to deal with the charge times. Evs aren't for everyone currently. Changes are in the EV charging future.
