The owner died recently. The dealership who originally sold the truck bought it back from his widow and has it on display in their showroom.

I first heard about the guy when he was at 1.2 million. He did replace the engine at 900,000 miles with one from a scrapyard that had 100,000 on it. The 2nd engine was at 700,000 miles and still running when he died. The original engine was still working, but he needed new head gaskets. It just made sense to replace the engine at that point even though it was still running.

And FWIW, he changed oil every 8000-10,000 miles.

Ofc it's the 2TR-FE lol what a badass little motor.

Side note, in Africa, (truckers, bush taxis etc) people talk about their vehicles in millions of kilometers instead of thousands of miles. I feel like 1M miles is totally normal for modern toyotas

Interesting tidbits in there like only 1.8% of all trucks sold reach the 200k mark. Honda Toyota and Chevy lead the way barely edging out the competition with stats in the 2% range.

Trucks of all walks of life reach 1mil miles. Gas, hybrid, diesel, electric.

Remember reading Toyota engineers said the expected lifespan for our drivetrain is in 200k range. So while everyone thinks every Tacoma is million mile capable the odds are against you at 97+%.

It was cool to see Tacoma with million of miles. That owner was planning to make to 2 million.

I am glad that truck is placed in the showroom for everyone to see.
