I’d say only about 50% of owners bought for some reason related to saving the environment. Most bought because it’s a mash up of a sports car, luxury car and truck wrapped up in a single package. Which for the price, it should be.

All depends on the model of truck and the timing of purchase. My R1T cost $67k OTD, at one point people were paying $60k for TRD Pros which makes the Rivian look like a bargain. That $7k savings disappears in fuel costs pretty quickly.

I kind of think a hybrid Tacoma is not far off.

They don’t really, just go from exploiting one resource to another, however the air theoretically should get cleaner. Imagine it will be like when they banned smoking in buildings and airplanes, but on a much grander scale. Nothing is perfect, but it should be better, at least what we are told. Personally believe it is more about making profit off of minerals and energy than it is about actually saving the planet.

    Yep.

With the cost of the new Taco, the Rivian makes more sense. Starting to see a lot of lightly used ones come to market. With the price of damn near everything sky high, it almost seems reasonable. (almost)

I’ve been seeing a ton of Rivian trucks and SUVs on the road lately. The more I see them the more I like them. The SUV looks really nice. I just wish they were less expensive.

Plug in hybrid would be nice. I like the direction Ram is going with the Ramcharger with an onboard generator that only produces electricity and isn’t connected to the driveline at all.

Have a few customers that have them, they sure are sharp, love the interior…though I would trash it under my thumb. Be ok running to the country club and stables though… ;) :p

March 7th Rivian is supposed to announce the R2 lineup of smaller/cheaper vehicles. The factory that’s going to build them isn’t built yet either so it’s going to be a bit before they’re actually available.

Ram is doing a hybrid much better than Toyota, power plus range plus fuel economy. Won’t be cheap though. Toyotas seems like a half assed effort, can’t even power a travel trailer or house with it like the Ford. Buddy of mine just bought the Ford hybrid, loves it.

Never seen a golf cart tow an 11k pound trailer or beat a Porsche 911 GT3RS in the 1/4 mile.

I'm thinking the R2 will only be about $10k less than the 1 line. That might be enough of a cost difference to get some new customers.

I'm interested to see how the Hurricane ttv6 does, it won't be no Hellcat, just wondering if it will see some of the same issues as the ecoboost, or any thing like the 3G Tundra which hasn't been too problematic except for the small number of bearing failures. The Rebel TFL truck showed looked nice, not much of a refresh the new wheels look a bit more Jeep like, I like the addition of tow mirrors, the blue looked nice on there, and the screen was huge.

That Hurricane is an inline. Should be super smooth.

I always forget that it's an i6, maybe they'll make v12 one day with larger turbos.

inlines always made more sense to me for a truck engine. Not everyone will agree though.

V12? Doubt it, they already tried the V10 with limited success. Can’t remember how long it was used in their 3/4-1 Tons, but wasn’t long. Most of that demographic want a diesel.
