    is it really though
because so is Audi/VW, and their problems seem to stem from being Audi/VW, not Mexico made

Wait I thought they produced some 3rd gens in San Antonio until 2022?

Assembled in Mexico. Nearly every part is "made" in China.

There's no issue with the quality of Chinese parts, when there's oversight (like mentioned above). However, when these Chinese companies are ripping off intellectual property, often utilizing the same company's tooling and materials, there's absolutely an issue.

MESO is a great example of this, as he was working with the OEM Toyota manufacturers in China to make his mirror turn signals. The Chinese company he was working with was the same manufacturer that Toyota used, and they used the Toyota molds to produce his tinted signals...

It ain't 2022 no mo'. :cookiemonster:

A complicated machine like a car - honestly who cares where the final assembly was made when the individual components crossed more borders than anybody here has: including US, Mexico, Japan, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Taiwan, and gasp, China. And those are just the major players. There are probably 30 more behind that list.

A simple product where raw materials, refining, shaping, and assembly can all be sourced to the same country of origin? I might see the argument in that.

ive owned three Audi’s in the last 30 years and they have all been just as reliable as my two Toyota’s. More expensive to maintain? Sure…but just as reliable

Yeah but they said "every single third gen" and that is tacitly untrue.

My 2016 was assembled in Texas. My 2018 was Mexico made, and that's the year where the majority of assembly crossed the border. The phase out plan was that San Antonio would only produce the Pro trim for about a year and a half, and then after that it was zero Tacomas in favor of Tundras and Sequoias only.

Wait. Edit, I went back and read what you're responding to. Correct, not every single 3rd gen ever was produced in Mexico.
