I have never had that issue and use two phones - work and personal. I wouldn't use it without the wireless. It's not worth it on long drives because it absolutely kills your battery but 1 hour or less it's awesome.

Unrelated. Half way through the new top gear/grand tour special. It's so far a 10/10. Way more scripted than their old stuff but a solid piece.

I might take you up on that. I use a phone case that has a little sliding bit on the back that holds cards. The Lexus key is a flat pack version of the H key. If I could put that in the phone case and it works....game on.

I'll probably immediately forget this but, anyway, its an idea.

Is yours the Carabc unit? It’s likely a completely different unit than mine. I typically didn’t use mine as it was setup up for wired usage. There was a wireless option but I didn’t use it. I typically always have my phone plugged in when I’m in the truck anyways.

This was a case of the device itself emitting some sort of static that was going over my speakers. I would get static in the channel when the Entune unit was sound off and the phone not connected to the module.

Totally forgot it came out until happened upon it a few hours ago. Glad to hear it's solid, the last few were not good. This is their penultimate GT adventure so high hopes.

Only hiccups in about 3 years of useage are that sometimes it doesn't boot up right and I have to power cycle it, otherwise has worked great over that time.

Absolutely saps phone battery but my commute is 10 minutes. Even up to 30-45 it's great to leave my phone in my pocket and go.

Just finished. Great episode. I think the boats in Vietnam was better but i think it'll be a hard case to top that.

It's also worth noting i am 30 years old and grew up in my formative years with the trio doing their thing.

I have started to cross that hill where i relate more and more to James May and Stu Pickles ever year.

My truck is a 2016, no factory CarPlay. I have a module that intercepts the factory wiring turning my aux input into CarPlay. Your truck has OEM CP, apples to oranges.

That module box was generating noise which was amplified by my aftermarket amp on one channel via the wiring.

Same here, half way thru and had to go to bed. I’ll finish it today. It is much more scripted but still great so far!

I like when they arrive in the city and the locals cars look like they have been in a demolition derby but still running fine. Meanwhile here people spend thousands to wrap their vehicles in paint protection film. :D

Dude... I'm 32, soon to be 33, and have been hooked on Top Gear since I first saw it in like 2005 on Streetfire. I've enjoyed watching the James May "Our Man In..." and Clarkson's Farm series more than the last few Grand Tour specials.

I wanted to really like it. It's really good in theory, easily 10/10 , in execution it was 6-7/10.

It turns your auxiliary input on the stock HU into a CarPlay / Android Auto or screen monitoring. The issues with it really center around the screen resolution (not great, but I didn't mind it as much as some owners) and the audio quality in audio playback and phone calls. I found the EQ really weird in that I couldn't get nearly as much bass out of the system as I wanted considering my setup and even then the soundstage felt "off". It also reversed my left and right audio channels. I do know that some people didn't love audio quality during phone calls. I never really played with it a ton. You can do wireless CarPlay with it as well if you're willing to sacrifice BT.

Since I'm one of the oddballs that actually never minded Entune I would use it mainly as a screen monitor to play YT clips for the kids while I was carting them around. I'll probably pull the unit out of the dash once the weather warms up and I don't risk cracking my dash trim.

    This is my unit.

I wired it into an aftermarket USB on the dash. I'll be listing mine for sale for probably $75-80 once it's pulled out since it's got noise in the channel but it does still work.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
It passed me on the highway in Providence.

I sped up to get a better look at it. They are sweet, and I'd say it has a rather different rear end than a Tundra in person.
