    Being born and raised in Norcal I was lucky enough to see Metallica several times in the early 80s before they got any air play on radio. We would go to the local metal bars/clubs and see them play. They were amazing even back then!

    I still have the No Life To Leather demo from 1982 and the Ride The Lightning Demo from 1984.

    That’s rad. I’d love to have seen them during that period.

    Meanwhile, in North-East Florida we had a minor period where Hardcore/Punk was enjoying some popularity in the early 2000’s.
    I got to see tons of crazy shows in small clubs with bands like;
    Sick of it All,
    Agnostic Front,
    Circle Jerks,
    American Head Charge,
    BloodSimple,
    Full Blown Chaos,
    Most Precious Blood,
    Job For A Cowboy,
    Madball,
    Suicidal Tendencies,
    Dropkick Murphys
    And these guys, Hatebreed;

    I’ve seen them probably 10 times.
    And they’re always killer!

    Nice! Saw Hatebreed in the early 2000s in Tucson. Can’t remember the exact year or who they played with though.

    Good list you have there, have seen most of those guys. Was at the deli getting sandwiches, young kid had a Circle Jerks beanie on, asked him if he heard of Keith’s latest band “Off”, gave me a deer in headlights look back. Think kids today just wear the merch and don’t actually listen to the bands.

    Summer 2018...when I would get on my 7.5ft board and paddled for exercise...such a great Summer Song.

    I'm always looking forward to the weekend.

    Oh, I can't forget this gem of a singer...

    This song is just cool.

    Techno-techno-techno! lol

    Absolutely.
    I try not to be the “name 3 songs by that band” guy. But, there are times where I see a kid in a shirt and I just feel like I know whether they truly enjoy the music, or they just thought the shirt was cool.

    I used to see a younger girl at the gym that I go to. And I don’t talk to anybody at the gym; I go in, do my routine and get out. But this one young girl was wearing a Maiden “Trooper” shirt once.
    I noticed, gave her a small nod and pointed to the shirt. The look I got was like I was the weirdo.

    I have seen Maiden at least 5 times. The first show was in Sacramento for the Number of the Beast tour. They opened and the Scorpions headlined. Killer show.

    I would have loved to see Suicidal Tendencies and the Circle Jerks back in the day. Very cool stuff there!

    Yeah me neither, honestly I can barely remember song names or albums myself. Living Idaho now…don’t really see much old punk or old metal tees running around here. When I do, think “my people” until I open my mouth. Then I am the creeper… lol!

    Great Maiden picks!

    Suicidal Tendencies puts on one hell of a show. The crowd is a crazy mix of punkers, metal heads and gang bangers.

    which reminds me…

    Hold the Line is one of my faves back in the day. I wish they would have done more of the "harder" songs instead of all of the ballads.
