I just test drove a 2WD sport to get an idea of if I want a TRD OR. The seating position is truly a major improvement over the 3rd gen. Things I liked were; the added punch of the turbo engine, the transmission, the brakes. The driving experience in general is better.

The back is harder to get in and out of I think, there’s enough room to use in a pinch but ingress and egress are difficult.

my biggest gripe about the new Tacoma is that the sunvisor scrapes the headliner. it doesn’t matter if it has a sunroof or not, and it seems bad enough that it could wear the fabric off the headliner overtime.

Not at all something that would prevent me from buying the truck, but it is a surprising oversight

Nope, but I’ve tested around 10 3rd gens since 2016 in various configurations.

There are some things the 3rd gen had better execution on but as a whole the 4th gen is a step forwards.

Thanks. When they added electric seats, it improved the third get significantly. I look forward to testing the fourth gen.

Except you're wrong about the Tacoma , it was stated by the engineer that due to the Taco being lighter it stays in battery mode longer and gets better mileage because of that. Someone posted it on here at some point I believe but I know I read it .

It has to get better mileage, but it wont be the same as comparing a rav4 to a rav4 HV.

It will be 1-2 mpg better. We'll see.

I feel the same way, it is a shame they took that away as standard on SR5 and up. However; the good news is that the manual seat does have more adjustments than the manual 3rd gen seats and has that better positioning.

I sat in two of them, a base SR5 and drove the TRD Sport w/ upgrade pkg. The good news for me is that even the non-powered seats are an improvement. There was enough tilt on the manual seat coupled with the manual height adjustment that my thighs were supported. This is something I could not do in the stock 3rd gen, which is probably why the aftermarket front seat jackers on those became popular.

Was "seating position" an issue on the G2, or just the G3?

I do not perceive a seating position issue with my G2.

It’s felt the same for me the g3 and g2, typical Tacoma, but apparently people didn’t like it and they changed it.

Do people think they are sitting too high or too low?

More knee bend like a traditional truck. Tacoma has had a more straight leg car like feel to me.

On the 2016-2019 Tacomas, the seats were too low and close to the floor.

Power seats in ‘20 meant people could lift further up off the floor if needed, and people who instead desired more headroom could go a bit lower. I was in the latter, and the change from my ‘18 to ‘23 was appreciated.

The ‘24’s seats are noticeably lifted, and the ceiling is much higher. I can see straight across the roof of my ‘23, and can’t on the ‘24. Insofar as the trademark Toyota leg-out feeling, that’s gone. But I didn’t necessarily feel a greater sense of overall ride height, just a lot more headroom and a more vertical foot to pedal feel, which was their stated goal.

Same experience, the available power at highway speeds was reassuring and I was convinced the hybrid wasn't necessary as I thought.

I wonder how much they raised the seats in the G4.
