I have a 2002 V6 Taco with a grey supercharger. I installed the SC about 2 years ago and has been solid the whole time. I have also been using the TRD FMU. When I installed the SC I put in a new fuel pump/filter, coil packs, wires and Ik22 spark plugs. Timing belt was also done 3 years ago.

I had a trip planned and wanted to tidy up the engine bay and make sure everything was in working order.
    - rerouted/replaced some vacuum lines. (To match gadgets)
    - replaced the gas line from fuel rail to TRD FMU
    - replaced header tube gaskets.

Everything went well and started right up. Idled 5-10 minutes perfectly. I got in put it in reverse and released the parking break and the engine died. Now it barely starts and shakes horribly. Spark plugs come out fouled and wet. I get codes P0300, P0304, P0305 and P306 I have been trying to fix it for days and no luck. Here are some things I’ve tried.
    - new spark plugs and wires
    - Triple checked for vacuum leaks
    - removed TRD FMU and now using “free FMU”
    - coils packs are less then two years old. Don’t think it would be them.
    - cleaned negative terminal and check all other truck grounds.

I noticed my clock is very dim. Is it possible I had a bad ground and now something is shorted? Truck turns over strong but starts and runs really rough. I am at a total loss because truck was running great before.

I'd pull line off fuel pressure regulator and check for fuel in vacuum line to start.

It’s bone dry. I also happened to have a second regulator and made no difference when I tried that one.

Misfire on 4,5 and 6 makes me think it could be a cam timing issue. Have you checked compression on those cylinders?

I haven’t yet but will today I think. I haven’t yet because it was running fine before and I didn’t mess with timing at all.

Double, triple check your spark plug wires. If in doubt, just replace them all. Also check the coil power wires are plugged in securely.

Just a long shot, this happened to me but my truck isn't s/c. Check the PCV hose to the valve. If you took it off after servicing the s/c and put the hose on backwards the throttle linkage will pull the hose off and cause a vacuum leak, a big one and the truck will run rough and die. My .02 cents. Good luck with that.

So I did a compression test and was getting 0 compression on cylinder 5. I figured I must have dropped a small bolt in the intake. I took the SC back off and could see the bolt jamming the intake valve open. (Bolt was from TRD FMU) yes I realized I was missing a bolt but thought I just misplaced it. I put a magnet on it and turned the engine manually so the valve was at its highest point and the bolt came right out. Did a comp test and was 160 psi. Put it all back together and runs great like it never happened. I really dodged a bullet especially considering I ran the truck probably a total of 15 minutes like that while troubleshooting. I am running two things different now since it last ran.

    1. Running even cooler plugs. IK24 to see if it helps reduce my minor ping
    2. Plummer the vacuum and boost lines in conjunction with the TRD FMU the way gadget recommends.
